@evelyn I love Les Mis! (although, that’s Historical Fiction, not Historical Fantasy) It was a nightmare to read at times, but I still think it was worth it.
@pursuewisdom Ooooh, nice thoughts. *nodnod* And lots of different books I haven’t read.
@steward-of-the-pen Fantasy across an entire history? Books that come to mind are The Silmarillion…[Read more]

J.A.Penrose started the topic Writing Life : How to Deal with Non-Motivation/Discouragement in the forum Weekly Theme Discussion 7 years, 1 month ago
Hello Parimis!
I’m going to say now: feeling unmotivated and discouraged is something I struggle with a lot. I don’t tend to deal with it well (you can occasionally walk into my room to find me curled up in blankets on the floor with a lifetime supply of chai-tea and tissues) but it looks like Faith has a few words of wisdom for us…[Read more]

Hello Parimis!
This is our Weekly Guild Discussion from Brandon this week, and we’ll be looking at a really cool topic: Reading. Without any further rambling at the front, we’ll hand over to Brandon.
Okay so, we’re all writers, right? We weave words and spin tales and generally have a good go at reality. For most of us though, our love for s…[Read more]

I see! Dhilorwis sounds like a fantastic place. I am concerned for this first group. I doubt the Great Squirrel is worthy of much adoration. >-<
Are the tales of Dhilorwis recorded anywhere?@steward-of-the-pen
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSS!!!
Well met! *bows* Is the story with the wolves available for reading? I haven’t read a…[Read more] -

Awesome! Yeah, if you change your mind, that’s okay, but I like that you’re planning on teaching AND writing. I think that’s wise to not rely solely on writing. I’ll look forward to reading your work, I LOVE good dialogue.
(Also, I too am an INFP! Except I’m a T, not an A, but still.)@cassie-hartfinh

What I Read: I finally finished Brothers Karamazov and The Fiddler’s Gun (by A.S. Peterson). Started on Fresh Perspectives on Ender’s Game – really highly recommended along with the actual book Ender’s Game, and am about to start Fawkes (you’d be proud, @steward-of-the-pen 🙂 – I’m looking forward to SE’s series on Fawkes.
What I…[Read more]

The fact that we’re not living for this life does not mean our life here is pointless. Do you think our all-powerful, loving God would leave you here to suffer if your life wasn’t worth living?
Yes, absolutely, because He has given humans the free will to corrupt perfect creation into a sinful world. I do not believe it is God…[Read more]

@steward-of-the-pen Yep! I love it so much. We don’t have a lake (sadly). We have a nice two-story house we built ourselves (my dad, mom, a couple uncles, grandpa, and a couple friends). We hired some people to do the shingles, pour the foundation, and lay the bricks, but otherwise we did it with just family members, and without taking out a loan.…[Read more]

@steward-of-the-pen That was amazing. I agree with everything in that blogpost and with what @ericawordsmith just said. I never agreed with abortion. But I didn’t even ever think about it until I saw the Unplanned trailer en watched the movie. Just thinking about these innocent babies and learning about what’s going on inside an abortion clinic…[Read more]

Wow, that was awesome. Thanks for sharing the link!! I know that was my experience after watching Unplanned. I had never really cried about abortion before, but I wept after watching that film, and I believe that it was the right kind of horror to feel. I think that we all need to experience that horror and realize just how…[Read more]

@steward-of-the-pen I’ve heard of Fawkes, but haven’t read it. Sounds pretty neat, though. I’ll add it to my to-read list. And good job with those Spanish tenses =P
And ultimately, when it seems like this life has nothing for us, we have to remember that as Christians, we’re not living for this life.
Honestly, this is a really dangerous mind…[Read more]

Hello, guild people! 🙂
Once my writing teacher told me that every writer had a super power. Something that they were especially good at. Maybe it was wordsmithing, or world building, or description, or connecting readers with a character, or creating a sense of suspense, etc.
So, since I’m still meeting you all, I wanted to know what you think…[Read more]

I finished the redraft of Which You Have Ordained! It was a struggle (I cut ~10% of the first draft this evening) but I did it. If you’d be so kind as to help me prep it for SE submission, the thread for it is here.

I’m really ashamed to say I’ve done nothing since posting this.
Not that I haven’t spent time in it. I’ve got close to ten hours spent with rear in chair, struggling to edit. The words just swim in front of me. I’m wasting my time. I’ll keep going, but I’ve got nothing to show…[Read more]

What I read- Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt. My friend Aislinn recommended it to me and I got it from the library. I’d never heard of the book before even though it’s supposed to be a classic. ‘Twas very good. I was able to empathize with the characters and the story kept me turning…[Read more]
