@salome01w4g
Yeah… XDLet’s go with that and say that is the book you told me about. 😉 Yep, I’ve had to do some rewrites myself. No terribly major though.
Such is life… But I try to enjoy the lemonade (or just put the lemons in water which is also nice.). Sometimes it’s hard though.

@salome01w4g One thing I’ve found nice is having a friend edit each chapter as I write it. This might not work if you chapters are in serious need of help, but I often think a chapter will only be so-so and having someone read it and say it’s actually pretty good helps me from being harder on myself than I should. It’s easier to keep going.

@salome01w4g Yeeeees, this is a horrible problem I suffer from to. And there’s really no easy way to fix it, simply because it’s mental. You have to overcome your mind. Which is… tough.
Just remember, this 1st draft isn’t set in stone. Anything you write can be rewritten. Any problems you have can be fixed. You can edit a rough draft—but not…[Read more]

@salome01w4g Heeeey, I recognize you! Glad you made it over here!
When you say the Baker Family series, you wouldn’t by any chance happen to be referring to the books written by C.R. Hedgcock? They’re rather obscure—I thought I was the only one who’d ever heard of them. 😂

@salome01w4g (I sincerely hope I got that right)
I have the problem of editing sentences as I write them. Like, it has to be written perfectly, and I’ll phrase it several different ways before I’m satisfied. My little sister actually told me about this tic I have where I write a word, delete it, and write it again as I think about what I want to…[Read more]

@salome01w4g Welcome to Story Embers! You don’t know me, and I don’t know you….SO HI (╭☞ᵔᗜᵔ)╭☞
I love reading historical fiction. I haven’t done much in it though. I’m more of a fantasy kind of gal. 🙂 I’ll check out your stories 🙂

@salome01w4g, I like writing fantasy-adventure stories. I used to write more sci-fi stories, alien-filled and crazy, but I’ve noticed I’ve been more writing fantasy recently.
My WIP right now is in a make-belief world where there are many things to explore. Though I tried to keep the plants and animal realer unlike this other story I’m wr…[Read more]

I’ve not yet tried a crossover… but ND Wilson has, and succeeded.
Some people find ND Wilson to crazy, but his writing style is magnificent. I like his characters, and his descriptions are beautiful. I would suggest you read them again, maybe to learn what it is he does.
XD So glad I made you laugh! One of my younger brothers and…[Read more]

@salome01w4g Hi, fellow Emberian! I’m new here also.
It’s really neat that you write historical fiction. It must be difficult finding the right sources for your research, or finding the right information for your books. I’ve tried reading it, and sadly, it’s not really my thing… I’m more of a fantasy-and-adventure gal. *coughs awkwardly; looks…[Read more]

@salome01w4g (Oh boy, that’s going to be a fun tag 🙂 )
I found two good options that I use sometimes to prevent myself from going back.
1. Take the mouse’s thumbdrive out of the PC.
2. Put something hard and flat over the trackpad if you have one and tape it down.
Voila. Can’t move the cursor. Just use the arrow keys to go back and fix…[Read more]

@salome01w4g Hello it’s been so long since I’ve read you!
Yes I do that… What I have to do is try and force myself to not edit it as I write. What helps a little bit is if I just work on that one chapter without going back to other chapters. I guess this mindset helps *because I have finished them they should not be edited until the next draft…[Read more] -

Yes, Hunting in the Highlands sure did have powerful Jigson quotes. I might just like Iceland Intrigue best because of Miss Verton. (I’m crazy about her) The last three books were definitely amazing, @salome01w4g. Her books have been helpful for me in learning to write.
Nice to “meet” you too.

Welcome, welcome, @salome01w4g! *showers confetti* So great to have you here!!
I absolutely LOVE LOVE the Baker Family Adventure series!!!!!! They are the greatest books ever!! Iceland Intrigue is my favorite from the series.
I think I’ve seen you comment on C. R. Hedgcock’s page.

Hannah! Welcome!
I go by my username and tag, so just call me Wordsmith.
My writing genre preference is either science fiction (I use that term very loosely) or fantasy, maybe modern.
May favorite books are the 100 Cupboards series, LOTR, The Wingfeather Saga, many other ND Wilson books, and Ender’s Game. There are others that I…[Read more]
