@evelyn Yes, Poetry!! I love comedic poetry. (It’s the only type of poetry I write, so what can I say? 😛 ) Are you going to share some with us?
@eden-anderson I’m not sure what to do. I’m being told to stay here and stand strong, and also to flee in terror.
@i-david I forgot to tell you that I quite enjoyed your sto…[Read more]

@i-david @evelyn @eden-anderson
I disappear for one day, only to come back and find gigantic emojis terrorizing the populace, and people choking on puppies – or was it tea? 😛
I am becoming a little wary of this place. Should I disappear again?? :0

@libby My thoughts on the Emily books. 😛
There are some very interesting and fun things about them, but the thing I really dislike about the Emily books is the confusing romance. I haven’t read them in years, but I recall that Emily and her friends went back and forth between so many different people and for the strangest reasons…I just…[Read more]

@eden-anderson While I can agree that as you say, “love wasn’t the main factor back then,” I do believe that there was a mindset of “marrying for love” and has been for ages. The Civil War was a time of gallantry, and especially Southern Gentlemen, but also some Northerners were acclaimed for their chivalry and romance. The difference was, b…[Read more]

@ashira Well, like I said, I don’t know a while lot about California’s particular participation in the Civil War, but I know that Wikipedia article covers it pretty thoroughly. However, to get a good idea of Western Civil War era relations I’d definitely recommend you watch Two Flags West (1950)! It is a very interesting and unusual Civil War m…[Read more]

@morreafirebird My favorites, when I happen to write them, are usually my comic short stories and poems. But those are pretty rare, so my regular favorite is his-fic. It’s the genre in which I read and write the most.
Haha, 😛 Crazy short story ideas are the best!

@valtmy 😛 I remember you mentioning this back on KP. Some advice I can give you is use an overabundance of similes and metaphors. Compare the loved one to everything that is good and over-compare so much so that it is ridiculous, and give no reason for the comparison, but just compare for the sake of comparing. I’ll give you an example of th…[Read more]

@i-david Cool idea! One question, though: did you mean funny true stories, or funny fiction we wrote ourselves? Or recommending funny books/stories by authors we like?
(This is a topic that particularly interests me, as you’ll see by my signature. 😉 )

@eden-anderson I see. I’m not going to argue that you shouldn’t scrap the idea if you no longer are interested in it. If you’re ever interested in writing another Civil War his-fic, though, I’d love to talk about what would make it a good and unusual story! 🙂
No, I agree. We should not excuse any heinous acts committed by the Germans just b…[Read more]

@selah-chelyah Cool, I’d love to read your second one, it sounds very interesting.
Unfortunately I have to say I don’t like your first story’s synopsis, because I have personal experience with adoption (my family has adopted several children, and my parents are counselors for adoptive parents) and the story is just the type of thing that causes…[Read more]

@eden-anderson Oh no! Why are you scrapping the project? 🙁
About your question for @seekjustice, she’s talking about WWI, so these Germans aren’t Nazis. 😉 I actually don’t know a whole lot about the politics of WWI, and I’m on the side of the Americans just because I’m an American, but I know war politics is very complicated.
I can a…[Read more]

@ariel-ashira I think I added a little bit more than what you read to the doc I sent your sister. I just sent it to you, so you can read it and check if you like. It should be pretty close to what you read. Possibly with a couple more paragraphs. (I’ve written more than that since then, but this is just the first chapter for introduction.)

@selah-chelyah I meant that she’s read the part of my book I just sent you, since (I think) I sent it to her a while back when I was first planning on trying this idea out.
Thanks! I can’t wait to finish it.
What’s your favorite WIP at the moment? (You said you were working on several. That’s what I do too, but I usually have a main one, an…[Read more]

@selah-chelyah Haha, 😛 okay, then.
I sent you the doc. You’ll be able to comment there if you like, and I’d love to hear what you think!
@ashira You’ve read the opening already, right?

@selah-chelyah Great! I’ll send that out to you.
A warning though: you put your email out here where anyone can see it, and that could be dangerous on the internet. So if you have time (I think it’s five minutes from the time you post) you can probably edit your post to take it out. You don’t have to, I just thought I’d suggest it in case. ;)…[Read more]

@ashira That’s the book! 😛
I offered to invite your sister onto a google document with the opening chapter of my WIP on it, but I haven’t really heard from her about that other than that she’d like to read it. If she wants to read it I can either send it to you, or you have to give me her email address, since you have mine. Could you ask her w…[Read more]

@seekjustice Haha, 🙂 I guess you study more diverse areas than I do, since you study the battles and true historical figures as well as the lives of the people at home.
I don’t know how much was kept secret, I just remember reading about the women speaking of the Red Baron as though he was dangerous and horrible. At the time of WWI there was a…[Read more]

@seekjustice Remember, I don’t study the actions of the soldiers and heads of state. I study the reactions of the women and children of the home front. I’m sure you’re right that the pilots fighting the Red Baron admired him as one accomplished at his art. I’m coming from the women and children who hear the stories of one great, invincible wa…[Read more]

@eden-anderson Haha, I was trying to keep my biased feelings out of it. 😛 I actually don’t think what you believe about the Civil War has to do with where you’re from anymore. I’ve met people from northern states who are adamantly for the Confederacy, and people from the southern states who speak vehemently for the Union. To answer your q…[Read more]
