Aefflaed’s Weakness: A Love Story
This touching story began as a short story and quickly evolved into an epic. (well, a short novel, but still an epic story….if I can toot my own horn a bit. )
In my previous WIP, The Adventures of the Last Aygiff,…[Read more]

Hello citizens. Either SE has been pretty slow lately (most likely due to finals for the end of the school year) or I’ve somehow missed all the action.
I was just wondering what everyone has been up to lately in the writing world.
So, what have we been up…[Read more]

Thanks! I am glad it made sense. Though I did not explain it thoroughly as I should have.
Thank you for this idea! I will need to play it out and tweak it. It would like make it more understandable to the reader if they saw the outcome and is able to pinpoint how it happened with kragvora…[Read more]

Yes, I have 10 other races of good humanoids and 5 bad races. That does not include the countless hybrids of humanoids. lol You have good points that I have personally wrestled with on a realistic level comparing animals and how venom works.
Your idea is mostly correct, though I was hoping to avoid…[Read more]

@obrian-of-the-surface-world, I took @storysmith ‘s venom scenario differently
A few drops = paralysis and infection leading to slow death
Small doses = death
Medium doses = death and reanimation into feral, mindless creatures – but not Kragvora.
Large doses = death and reanimation into a full-blown Kragvora.
I’ve seen zombie movies do this…[Read more]

@obrian-of-the-surface-world @jared-williams
I have thought a little more into the Kragvora’s venomous abilities as they can turn someone into them with their venom. What would a small or medium-dose do to a person? I then came up with a full dose can change someone into them but a medium dose can turn someone into a mad and hungry feral humanoid…[Read more]

Thanks Brian! Your encouragement means a lot. It honestly has been painfully slow as I have slowly worked up to the 3rd chapter of my 1st book! It has been honestly been depressing trying to keep at it above exhaustion from work. But I working at being more passionate and consistent with my writing.
I am honestly…[Read more]

The Kragvora have a mixture of skin and insectoid carapace, this is because they were made from humans/humanoids with experimental crystal bio-tech. I am still ironing out the details but they operate on a hive mind. The vampiric parasitism is just a venomous ability as they can not reproduce. Their master is a…[Read more]

So, is Will from earth and gets in some form or fashion teleported back and forth? Similar to Ted Dekker’s book, Black? From the sound of the gunslinging, I would hazard a guess, Wild West or some sort of post-apocalyptic?
guessing he’s a pre-teenager (12-14ish) who has a lot of anger which he displaces on his…[Read more]

well done! a bit hard to read due to the shortness, and odd vocabulary, but it does give credence to their creaturely intelligence. Having read a description of your character elsewhere, it probably wouldn’t be quite fair for me to make guesses, but I think you did a good job of giving it a distinct voice. Very interesting!

Excellent character voice is extremely hard to pull off, and so like I do with all hard things in life, I decided to make a game out of it.
It’s a joke.
I’m kidding.
Mostly. 😉
Anyways, to the point. Character voice makes everything from dialogue to normal scenery descriptions pop off the page, but, for me at least, it is a very difficult…[Read more]

Make it at least 3 authors, because I have a “seven obsession” as well. Every one of my Chapters has at least seven scenes or a multiple of seven scenes (14 max).
Totally onboard with the sevens and their biblical connections.
Oh, gosh, that’s hilarious! I wouldn’t be surprised if there were more authors who did thin…[Read more]

Hi Erynne!
I am so far behind on emails. I am sorry if I haven’t replied. I subscribed to a lot of newsletters recently and I think I am getting a little behind in reading. No problem! I was just wondering. I’m thrilled you’re enjoying the newsletter. Unfortunately, I’m not going to be able to send pt 2 of the comedy thing this week. I have had a very busy and stressful week and didn’t have time to work on it. I’ll be praying for you and your work project.

Thank you, Erynne! I am looking forward to Part 2. I think we all could use a little more humor in our stories, these days. I know I certainly need to.
