    Hello Ereki!

Well, this is going to be my last topic discussion with you all. But I’ve thought up something a bit unique so we can keep it light-hearted 😉

The past couple of weeks, we’ve been talking about virtues and vices — the main strengths and weaknesses that make up our characters. But not every character trait is clearly a virtue or a vice. Take curiosity, for instance. Though it could be detrimental to a character in some way, it’s generally a positive trait. Yet at the same time, it probably isn’t going to be the trait that helps the protagonist save the day. It’s a neutral trait that adds layers to a character’s personality and makes him more unique. It gives him a distinct personality. While we might find quite a few characters who are kind, just, courageous, but stubborn and egotistical, throw in the trait of “philosophical” or “whimsical”  and the character becomes more unique.

Therefore, this week’s assignment has several steps:

    1) list all the traits your character has — virtues, vices, neutrals.

    2) see if you can find another character in books or movies that has the same/similar virtues and vices (or just choose one category if you can’t get enough traits to match up), yet is still different because of some neutral personality traits. How do those different personality traits make this character different from your own? Is the difference subtle or radical?

I can’t wait to see your results 🙂
