Hehe, I suppose I should take my own challenge and handle my villain. I’ll use the overarching one for now.
Chief Isaac Shultz is the Police Chief in the small town of Frankberg (where the story is set). He has secretly been orchestrating the workings of the entire town to keep himself in a position of power and control.
1. Whatâs so…[Read more]

I’ll read it and get back with you. Telling you here so I’ll have some accountability. đ
What kind of advice do you want, or are you open to anything? (I’ve had people say they don’t want store-specific advice, but advice that they could transfer to their next work. I’ve also had people who cared about grammar, or theme, or it just sounding okay).

Hello!
Well, I’m trying to get myself to start editing/re-writing my novel. It is such a big project that I’m very overwhelmed. I think the biggest achievement I’ve made is identifying the theme in it, so now I know how to fine-tune the story (I don’t outline, and didn’t understand themes until AFTER writing it, so determining what the theme was…[Read more]

Alright, now that you have all answered these questions with your protagonists, let’s take our antagonists on! (If you don’t have an antagonist, feel free to use another character as well).
To remind you of the questions:
1. Whatâs something that your character doesnât know about h…[Read more]

Cool topic!
A couple of worlds come to mind, but one is very obvious (Tolkiens world in LotR). So instead I’m going to talk about the world in the series Avatar: The Last Airbender (tv).
The premise of the story is that there are these four “bending” powers from four nations (air, water, earth, and fire) and the Avatar can use all four. The…[Read more]

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Yep. “Dreamer seems pretty accurate. :)

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Beyond that I think we’ve considered anywhere from a small town full of mysterious people to a Tolkien world to a Harry Potterish world. I don’t think we ever came to a final consensus.

Hello!
There’s no way I’m going to get read up on this thread, so I’m just going to jump into the deep end with a funny story I wrote (in time for Christmas):
Coal for Christmas
It was dark and scary when the power was out.
We and the Goodmanâs was snowed in. The firewood was wet, so the smoke was so thick it made my sister Jayla cry. Momma w…[Read more]

1. Cool! To further the question: What does he think he’s trying to accomplish? What is he actually trying to accomplish?
1. Some further questions: Why doesn’t he think he’s capable of good? What would it take to do good?
3. That sounds like it makes his life very interesting…

A few more questions!
5. What’s your character’s humor style? What does he/she find funny?
6. Where do they feel most “themselves”?
7. What’s something they want other people to think about them? Is this accurate?
And a challenge:
Pick a character you’re struggling with and write answers for them (I’ll probably pull out my villain in a bit).

I’m going to join in with my character.
Belle Pole ages a lot over the course of my series, but I’m going to work with her age in my current novel (23). She is a Private Investigator who started her trade trying to solve the unsolved murder of her parents and now has grown attached to the people around her.
1. She doesn’t know how much she…[Read more]

Hello!
I thought it would be fun to start a forum based on questions to ask about your characters. Give a brief description of the character in mind, and then answer away!
1. What’s something that your character doesn’t know about him/herself?
2. How does your character react to grief?
3. Who/what annoys your character the most?
4. What does…[Read more]

It does look better. Just a few quick things:
1. For some reason, his reaction to the pain doesn’t feel right. I feel like if it was painful enough to cause him to scream, he wouldn’t have the logical thought needed to try to back away. Maybe he’d curl up, or tense, but I don’t feel a person in that much pain would instantly make…[Read more]

Yay! Off to Music World:
Okay, so you know how most music has a melody (the part we sing to) and then the accompaniment (the background stuff)? That’s very typical across all genres of music, including classical pieces. With his Inventions, however, Bach wrote pieces where there wasn’t a more important and less important part. Both…[Read more]

Here, take some arrows, quick (just don’t tell).
Ooh, now I have to listen to that music. Haha! Bach Invention. I would explain it, but you would get bored while I nerd out in music-world. đ
