@erynne Okay! I’m interested in how similar Emma’s and mine will be, and how many we got right.
Yes, I’m conservative in my beliefs too! Wait, did I reply to the right thread? *scurries off to check* Okay, I did, whew.😂
Also, yes, I guess I do! Of course, I have never thought to myself, ” Hmm, I really love government-control stories,” but now…[Read more]

@andrew Hey there! Fellow homeschool graduate here! *high-fives* I actually have the opposite problem, where I get writer’s block for months at a time, and I can’t think of new ideas for the life of me. Instead I get caught up in the mechanics of writing, so I edit as I go instead of just moving forward. But I can relate about the slightly o…[Read more]

@erynne Okay, so the very last picture on page 31, correct? And there seems to be 19 questions now? Which is 13 more than the original six on page 1, but oh well. xD 🤷🏻♀️
1) Name: something strong, like maybe Leeland? or Alexander?
2) Age: late 30s, early 40s
3) Career/Role in Story: he seems like he would be a leader, maybe even a king

@noah-cochran Ooh, that’s a good prompt. I’d love to join, but I’ll probably be busy, and seeing how the first one went, I think there should always be one of us who can commit to being a judge, so..I’ll be a judge for this round.😁 The rest of you, have fun, and may the best one win!
Also, you don’t have to, but maybe you can decide on a de…[Read more]

@noah-cochran Congrats, Noah! Honestly, if I wasn’t competing, I would have voted for you myself too. 😂 Yes, please post a new prompt for us, we await your challenge.
@emily-waldorf Yes, since at least two judges agree, I’d say the judging is final and this contest is officially over! Thank you to you and Erynne. If you were tagged to be a…[Read more]

Wait, never mind, I read the first page. Everything make more sense now. XD I definitely want to join, but I’ll have to either draw my character or do a Google search first because character reference photos aren’t something I do on a regular basis.

@emma-walker Soo, apparently you tagged me almost four days ago, and I never noticed til now…xD. But it does look interesting, thanks for tagging me!
What’s the point of the game?

@Emma-walker I know, right? xD
Hey, do you want to cast a vote? We’re having a hard time getting our judges to respond😭

If you’d like to see my original prompt, this is it:
Write about a character experiencing an intense emotion, but here’s the twist: you can’t give away what the gender of the character is. The judge for the prompt has to determine if it’s a guy or a gal speaking from the tone in dialogue and the character’s actions.

Hey, not anymore confusing than the character castles you have going on with a 100-somethin pages. 😂😂 I’m too scared to even try to figure that thread out.
So basically, @calidris , if you’d still like to be a judge, you just pick the best piece out of the three submissions on page 2. That’s it. If guessing the c…[Read more]

@emily-waldorf You can still be a judge if you’d like! Yep, three submissions — mine, Noah’s, and Cathy’s. They’re all on page 2.

@noah-cochran @this-is-not-an-alien
Also, if none of the other judges reply by tomorrow night, are you okay with just Erynne and Calidris’ decisions? Assuming they pick the same person. If not, maybe the two contestants can do a quick tiebreaker with a new prompt.
Anyway, I thought that the winner could create prompt #2, and then up to five p…[Read more]

@noah-cochran Sorry about that! but yeah, you did a good job explaining, thank you. Yeah, this system isn’t perfect, but it’s our first prompt battle, so there’s room for improvement. If any has a better idea, please share😁
@erynne Thanks for being a gracious judge. Don’t worry about hurting my feelings, I appreciate constructive criticism😉 I…[Read more]

@erynne Oh, hey, I remembered you said you could be one of the judges.
So some things for the judge(s)to keep in mind…
- Try to guess what the main character’s gender was
- Did the emotion feel authentic or cliched?
- How was the quality of the prose?

I felt weak. Nauseous, almost. But it had to be done. Even if the fear was enveloping me like smoke, filling my lungs, choking me. My right knee went into sudden spasm of trembling, even though I tried to will it to be still. I didn’t want them to see my fear.
I took a step toward the entrance of the cave. I suddenly imagined myself panicki…[Read more] -

@noah-cochran How about an interaction between two characters. That way you’re not just writing from a female’s perspective, cause reverse psychology😎
This prompt is getting more confusing the more I think about it.😂 The point is the winner will be the one who writes emotion best without being cliched, but also accurate enough that the judges can…[Read more]

@this-is-not-an-alien @noah-cochran
So yeah, hide the gender not the emotion. In fact you should be showing the emotion. The original prompt was to write from the perspective of an opposite gender than yours, but I switched it up a bit. Sorry if that’s confusing.
Also, I meant for the prompt war to only be one-on-one, but maybe it’s better with…[Read more]

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Also, I can extend the time if you want. You were the first one to respond to the prompt after all. Just post it when you can. (Cause if you have the perfect idea, I don’t wanna see you waste it😉)</p>
