Woo-wie! This is a toughie! I’ve never written this sort of thing before. We should make it very emotional. Like, life or death maybe? My immediate thoughts are that we need to give the reader chills by reading it. If we can do that, then we’ve gotten emotional yet realistic enough.
Maybe we should put something at stake for the character? Like by going somewhere, they lose something? If they switch to the faith, maybe they lose somebody dear to them? Do we want them to gain something physical? Or maybe they’re about to die, and they’ve literally only got minutes to decide?
What if we wrote it in the time of the Romans, when Christians were persecuted? That would mean death if they convert. Maybe whoever helps them convert dies afterwards?
I don’t know, just throwing ideas out there 😛 I’m tired, so hopefully these make sense in some way!
