@i-david I like it! I have a couple thoughts:
1. We need to make sure “you,” the protagonist, is a unique, developed character. I think we need a very specific focus here that both defines who the character is and causes his failure in the story. Maybe within the theme of “fighting against sin, temptation, and the devil” we could really focus on…[Read more]

So, I read a couple articles about second person POV and probably the most helpful thing I found was an explanation that second person writes as though the reader were the main character. In the same way, in first person POV, the writer is narrating as though he, the writer, were the protagonist.
I don’t have any specific plot or character ideas…[Read more]

There are Featherheads here!!! I think @kari-karast and I are the only ones in our guild…
I have yet to recover from the ending of The Monster in the Hollows.
@anne-of-lothlorien I’m pretty sure I put The Giver on my reading list a while back but it’s not one I had prioritized very much. So I guess I’ll try to…[Read more]

@i-david are you talking about my book? Cause if so…XD yeah it’s so true! I’ve had a really hard time getting people to leave reviews but one kid thought the sample was cool and decided to give it five stars, and I got a friend to write a blog post review and then modify it for Amazon. So… that’s why the two reviews are what they are 😂

Lol the main allegory is in the second book of my trilogy too!
Sounds neat! I like their names.

@kari-karast my published book and its two following stories (my wips) are allegories based on the attributes of God personified as the main characters. What’s your allegory about? (I mean, I know what it’s ABOUT, but speaking story-wise?)

@the-golden-light I like it! I like the poetry-like rhythm of the narration. The emotions felt real and relatable. There were a couple punctuation problems, but everyone does that sometimes. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

@kari-karast That’s in Episode VI right? It’s been aaaages since I watched that one, but I’ve heard people make the comparison before. Yay, somebody else who writes allegories! I’ll look forward to hopefully reading it at some point!
@maddie-jay I haven’t heard of that but I’ll look it up. I’ll almost certainly like a story if it reminds me of…[Read more]

@Knaplingers, happy Easter week!
Have you guys read any stories that remind you of Easter? The endings of The Warden and the Wolf King and Ember Rising (and the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, obviously) come to mind for me. Have you written any stories that remind you of Easter? Of course in a way every good story reminds us of the…[Read more]

“It’s simple enough and I do believe, but I’m not dying to tell you, and it’s killing me…” I think I’ll have to add that to my Big Book of Quotes. 🙂 I totally agree with Sarah and Emma.

I think that’s an amaaaazing start! I can put more specific, line-editing-type comments on the actual doc a bit later if you think that would be helpful, but just to get the editing ball rolling:
I think the backstory would feel stronger if we knew what Tabitha’s job was. Maybe it was one she really liked and depended on for…[Read more]

(Apologies for just now showing up)
What you guys have been talking about sounds great! I think that outline sounds very workable, @i-david. My guess is that the last bit, the actual moment of conversion, is going to be the hardest part to keep realistic and non-cheesy. Maybe not over-explaining would go a long way there.
One minor comment: I…[Read more]

Got mine in, too… I came way too close to forgetting. XD
I had a goal of 10,000 words, which I didn’t quite make, but next time I hope to be more structured and prepared. So if we don’t win this time, just wait till the next war! 😉
