hehehe. I could always help out with that. (wicked grin…). I have plenty, since I make them up so my students have a weekly opportunity to gain extra credit by being the first to solve them…

yes! That’s correct! heat. =) my students usually take about three weeks to get that one. lol.
Hot air rises, but the higher into the atmosphere you go, the colder it gets. Things move by kinetic energy, which is a form of heat energy, and heat is literally the molecules moving at a faster pace, meaning that heat can literally never…[Read more]

Hi! I’m Jared, currently writing a fantasy romance novel. However, my characters come from a YA fantasy series I’m working on (which the fantasy romance is a prequel to).
I don’t play by the normal fantasy magic/race tropes but come up with all original magic systems (called essence) and races (about 12 different original…[Read more]

(thumbs up) easter may be over, but don’t worry, the castle event doesn’t have a time limit on it. we can still have lots of fun with it for months to come. =)

Mr.Trip Williams replied to the topic How long is too long for an epic battle scene? in the forum Fantasy Writers 4 years ago
I am the exact opposite hehe. I love writing battles. =) A friend of mine said I have a knack for describing the indescribable. lol. I see my battles/fights in my head, and then do my best to portray it for the readers benefit. I don’t always do it justice, but it is always joy when a reader says they could see it. But I do have to be careful,…[Read more]

Then I might have a problem. It’s 62k WIP so far.
That being said, there are lots of twists, events, stratagems, and battle plot developments… The king gets involved with his army, and the enemy has air, fire, water, and earth elemental golems (as well as a giant golem that combines all four elements). He also has four cursed elementals at his…[Read more]

Um… so… hehe. Epic final battle in my WIP, and it’s quite the doozy… I am just now… finally getting to the climax of the battle! (which is about 3/4 done…) and…….. it is ….(blushes and turns his head, avoiding eye contact…) 9200 words, spanning over 25 pages…I know… the final battle itself is longer than a short story… but…[Read more]

Good Friday: Happy Easter castle version 2.0. =)
(there are legends in my world of Kaphar that our world came from another – from a bet/challenge (wrong word, but, think Job…) between the Maker (God) and the evil one. So even though it is a fantasy world, there are legends of this original world, called Maaterra (or literal translated as m…[Read more]

Mr.Trip Williams replied to the topic Research of less-than-desirable topics (wounds, wound complications, etc.) in the forum Fantasy Writers 4 years ago
I certainly don’t know from experience, but I think it can be different depending on the situation. If adrenaline is running hard enough, some people can get wounded without knowing they are wounded – then there is also different pain tolerances where some people scream bloody-murder at a paper cut, while others can…[Read more]

I like the idea. =) And would be willing to participate and help out! I’ve gotten the feeling critiquing isn’t very big in this forum, though people aren’t averse to doing it if you ask… I’m on a different forum, Christianwriters.com, that has an active critiquing section in it that I use a lot, but I like this idea. I find that the more eyes on…[Read more]

thank you so much for reading and helping me with it! your comments were really helpful! Yes, there were some context things, I think, that would be confusing. but I’m glad there wasn’t anything vital that was confusing. Semiramis was hurt for a moment cause Aefflaed thought her older than she was, but it passed quickly. And yeah……[Read more]

Wow… Another heart gripper. I’m nearing the end of my WIP, and some of the scenes are getting epic. I just have to share it… especially since I’m so close to it, so I don’t know how it will be taken by other people… but this scene is the capstone to my WIP… Please let me know if there is anything confusing in it…

haha… did you just compare him to a damsel in distress? haha. I wonder how he’ll feel about that.
I completely agree! So many people try to capture success, and it just can’t be done. All of our society seems obsessed with it. No tropes because tropes are typically over done. But they are overdone because they work and are well liked and…[Read more]
