– Read through certain sections of WIP
– Finish two chapters/sections
– Make more time for writing and reading once school starts in two days.

@morreafirebird I’ll do my best to be more active. It will probably motivate me to write more in general too, so win-win.

1. Unfortunately I haven’t gotten around to much writing this summer, sorry @devastate-lasting. But my fantasy WIP is about three races of winged people at war with each other. There are three main protagonists, Elnathan, Reuel, and Lyra, who are all on different sides of the war. When a Gold Wing(-ed person) from Elnathan’s past suddenly shows…[Read more]

It looks great, and there seem to be a lot of good comments as well. I think it’s due tomorrow, so does anyone know how to actually submit it?

Hi everyone!
Sounds exciting! It seems that we’re doing a bit of brainstorming on the document too, just to put that out there.
One possible route we could go is the “impossible choice” where a character has to choose between two enormous sacrifices. Just an idea.
Also, I think we should stretch the death out. Make it long. And painful.

Alright. These are some of my favorites:
- Flowers For Algernon by Daniel Keyes
- Grendel by John Gardner
- Don’t know if this counts, but The Five Dysfunctions of a Team by Patrick Lencioni. Yeah. I’m weird.
I found all of these interesting because of the unique approach each author took. Flowers for Algernon is written in first person from th…[Read more]

@allison-grace Inspiration isn’t plagiarism, for sure. I mean, I’m sure you can add more of your own spin, but I don’t think you should worry over it too much. SW, Narnia, LOTR are all amazing. I think it’s pretty naturally to turn to them for inspiration.
I think especially since you’re drawing inspiration from all over (even, as you mentioned,…[Read more]

@devastate-lasting Nice bio
I think it’s safe to say Erekdale is no longer empty
… but not yet totally filled 😉

@morreafirebird Yeah, I think killing off the new characters made it even more of a shock, as we kinda expected the new characters to start replacing the old ones.
Having a strong villain is very important in any story. Not only was Thanos developed well, but the very first scene illustrated just how powerful he was (with only one stone). He…[Read more]

Erekdale already seems like a very diverse place, so I think it would be cool for all of us to create our own identities and stories like @filewriter. There’s plenty of space in Erekdale to fit us all.
My vote is for Ereki to refer to all inhabitants of Erekdale, but Escripti or Shorol Sashos could refer to the writers, as @sarah-inkdragon sugge…[Read more]

@warrenluther04 Well, from what I’ve heard, people are speculating that the people who went poof are just stuck in the Soul Stone or something like that. I’m sure they’ll be brought back, especially as some of them have confirmed sequels. My question is what happened to the other characters that died but didn’t go poof (R.I.P. Loki 🙁 ).

Well, what I noticed is the dichotomy between some characters who were willing to sacrifice individual lives for their mission (Thanos, Vision sort of) and others who were willing to compromise half the people in the world for their friends (Gamora, Dr. Strange, Loki, etc.).
Of course, there was also the emotional value: getting the audience to…[Read more]

Hi everyone!
- Fantasy, I guess?
- I’ve started a somewhat allegorical novel with Devastate about three races of winged creatures stuck in a war (the oversimplified premise).
- Purple yam and cheese ice cream.
- Most excited for the worldbuilding.
- Everyone here is so much more experienced and dedicated to writing than me, so hopefully you all…

ENU replied to the topic Any other poets out there??? *eagerly searches the horizon* in the forum Poetry Discussions 8 years, 3 months ago
I love writing poetry too, particularly in Chinese. If possible, I try to have some sort of pattern in the poem. For example, I wrote a poem with 9 stanzas, each with 9 lines, but didn’t have a consistent meter otherwise. Another one had a line of 4 syllables, then 7, then 5, and then it repeated. It’s fun to play around with different styles.
