Excellent character voice is extremely hard to pull off, and so like I do with all hard things in life, I decided to make a game out of it.
It’s a joke.
I’m kidding.
Mostly. 😉
Anyways, to the point. Character voice makes everything from dialogue to normal scenery descriptions pop off the page, but, for me at least, it is a very difficult…[Read more]

Thanks for the response, Elena!
But I’ll just type stuff and see what happens…
That’s exactly what I’m wanting. Just random ideas you have that I can think on and make new ideas from. 🙂
Make the rebels the evil ones.
I’ve juggled around that idea myself–it is definitely something worth considering.
Take something that’s a normal trope…

Alrighty y’all, I love the dystopian genre, and I’ve been wanting to begin plotting a series for a while now, but unique and fresh plot ideas have been escaping me.
I consider the defining features of a vast amount of dystopian novels to be what I call the Big Three:
- An oppressive and autocratic government that is usually lying to its people…

Oh, that sounds interesting. I don’t really know much about that genre, but it seems like it could be fun. The characters sound really cool, especially how you’re twisting the tropes.
No, problem! I’m glad you like it! 🙂
thanks! The colours unfortunately have less to do with the story then I originally hope/planned but if I can’t weave…[Read more]

Sorry for the delay!
A murder mystery sounds fun! Would you want to share more about it?
It’s still in the very early development, but so far it’s going to be a very loose retelling of “And then there were none”. Well, the only thing they have in common is the concept of a story seeming to be reenacted in real life.
The premise is that…[Read more]

I think they’re both about 20-30 k words? Not super long, but they were a start. The first one I wrote was called Daybreak, was a sci-fi fantasy…as in they originally had spaceships but still used swords and things like that. It was about an orphaned boy who was adopted by a evil dictator to be his heir, but is also chosen by this reb…

Howdy Elena! I’m Noah, glad to have you!
I’ve finished two novels so far and started several others. Most of my ideas are fantasy, but I’ve had a few sci-fi ones. I’m also directing/writing an audio drama for a second year, and co-host a writing podcast.

Are you one of the voice…[Read more]

I LOVE SYDNEY CARTON!!! Okay, rant over. 🙂
Ooh, where are you at? I just finished the Council of Elrond.
I think mine are Legolas, Aragorn, and Faramir. Oh, and Sam and Beregond and Pippin and Boromir and Gandalf and Merry… 😀 I also am very intrigued by Denethor, but I wouldn’t say I exactly like him. Do you have an opinion on…[Read more]

@elena-n I’ve mostly read classics, too! Have you read A Tale of Two Cities? It’s my favorite book! And the Lord of the Rings is so good! I have been continuously reading the series (for one reason or another) since 2016. Do you have a favorite LotR character (from the book)?
