@esmeralda-gramilton Whoa, that is extremely interesting! I love plots with relationships and this whole Bonding thing has really drawn me in. Is there any way to break off a Bond? Are your main characters human or humans and dragons?
@arindown Those all seem really fun. They do sound like they’d spice up the story a whole lot.

@ashley-tegart Oh nice! Any authors you admire? I love Dostoyevsky most, I think. What are the monsters like?
@obrian-of-the-surface-world Oh, cool! I’ve been looking into doing blog serials. Do you have any tips? Wow, your life sounds busy. I’m glad you’ve been able to write, though!

Hi Linyang,
I first heard about blog novels back when I learned that Andy Weir’s “The Martian” began that way, before it was picked up by a publisher and later made into the Matt Damon movie by the same title.
That idea intrigued me, so I found out what Blogs were…I’m so out of touch..😜…and found that I could just get a free Blog on…[Read more]-
At this point, I have to ask you, are you a pastor or something?
Currently I’ve been examining several web fiction platforms, WordPress being one of them, and I’ve decided to try and publish different works on different sites. Only problem with me, though, is I feel this need to actually either finish a work before posting it or at least have a…[Read more] -
I am a pastor’s son, but I am not one myself. My dad has been in ministry for 40+ years and we have been active in our church. I went to college, got a degree in British and American Literature and minored in Art & Design, but I work in none of those fields, oddly enough. I am a bit of a techie, but not so much familiar with Blog platforms and…[Read more]

Thanks for the advice! Yeah, I’ll definitely keep that all in mind. Thank you!

@obrian-of-the-surface-world That sounds really interesting! I’m thoroughly impressed with how developed it is. How long have you been working on it?
@joy-caroline Of course, haha. It’d be interesting to see just how you can change it so people will stop thinking of Star Wars. I really enjoyed Treasure Planet‘s take on space…[Read more]

@joy-caroline Ah, yes, time-travelling, my old love. Still love, but unsure of what to do with it. Space would be cool1 I’ve been meaning to read that. Ah, hope you find what you like here! I can always dig up a list of genres as well but I think fantasy is best left up to the imagination first.

@obrian-of-the-surface-world Hey, forums are a place for long answers! Usually mine are on the shorter side because I don’t have much to say.
Ah, Lordship! I haven’t heard of that very often. I think it’s definitely a very interesting topic to tackle. What is the premise of your novel, btw?

@sparrowhawke Awesome username, first and foremost. Ah, yes, I have thirteen different worlds in my main fantasy…tbh there’s nothing special about most of them, they’re more like different countries at this point. Your ideas sound so cool! I love how much thought you’re putting into your worldbuilding. Will your main characters have one from…[Read more]

@ashley-tegart Very interesting! I do have a love for British and Russian literature. What aspects would you say you draw from them?
@obrian-of-the-surface-world Ah, yes, guilds…I miss my Erekdale. Wow, all three of these dragons sound very cool. I love how you have Bible verses from which they are based. And which themes in particular would y…[Read more]

@skylarynn Nice! Are there any certain culture’s legends which you are more partial to?
@imwritehere1920 I’ve been meaning to read The Girl Who Drank The Moon, actually! Best of luck with your research!
@obrian-of-the-surface-world Haha, thank you for the warm welcome. I’ve actually been here since the day Story Embers was established (you can…[Read more]

@imwritehere1920 Ey, thanks so much for helping me tag some people! I usually don’t interact much here anymore, so I’m a bit out of touch with the community, haha…
Dystopian/fantasy is something that I’ve been thinking about lately, yeah! You mention wagons and trains; would this be more of a 19th century type of time period?

@skylarynn Whoa, Hunters! That sounds cool! What makes someone a Hunter? Do they have to be born a certain way or can anyone be one?
Ey, I love little traditions! It’s really great worldbuilding, and makes the whole world feel more unique. What’s the favorite one that you have made so far?

I guess I’ll start…
I’ve only ever made one big fantasy thing before, but that I worldbuild as I write, so I won’t address it now.
Usually now for various works (novellas, short stories) they take place in an unnamed world, usually some Asian city, where some people have abilities, and are known as ability users, or antiquely, as gifted. As of…[Read more]

Hey there! In an attempt to do something useful and curb my boredom, I decided to start this new topic (because I haven’t done so in a good few years). I don’t know who to tag at all so fingers crossed that some people will see these, heh.
So when we say fantasy, we usually think of Tolkien’s fantasy, what with the medieval vibe, elves, dwarves,…[Read more]

I’m currently working on maybe four different things, but I’ll give you the blurbs of two of them. The first is a crime fiction, and the second a fantasy web serial.
The Mafia of Heather Flights –
Micah Radcliffe is one of the youngest and most successful businessmen in Heather Flights, CEO of the company Rose Corp. But in reality, he is just one…

@taylorclogston Ah, time travel isn’t too big in it, just setting up the main plot. It’s more thriller. I haven’t watched the anime before, but I did enjoy the manga thoroughly. I’d say that usually the manga is better than the anime, though.

@taylorclogston Thank you! The Town Where Only I Am Missing, also known as Erased, is one of my favorite manga series! I highly recommend it if you like mystery/time travel.
