Hey guys, so things are changing.

I just held a planning meeting with the other guild masters and we were talking about how to improve the guild experience so we can all safely say the guilds are the most awesome place for writers to be.

Based on these decisions, we’ve decided to make a few changes. (PLEASE PAY CAREFUL ATTENTION).

First and foremost, we’re getting more serious about involvement. The guilds were really intended to be tight-knit groups, but with a lot of people posting in them only once every other month, that hasn’t happened. If the guilds are just another forum category, that defeats the purpose. While we’re thrilled to have all of you on the forum, if you don’t desire to be active in a guild then it will be best for everyone else in that guild if you just interact with them in the regular forum. Guilds have limited space.

With that in mind, I’ll be monitoring activity over the next couple weeks to see who is being active. Those who are inactive will be removed from the guild though they can apply to join in later if they decide to become active again.

The litmus test for activity will be if you’re interacting on the guild about once a week or more. Now, this is somewhat subjective. If you only post once every other week but your posts are epic, long, and in-depth, you’ll be fine. There will also be grace for vacations and such. Basically, just make sure you’re a quality contribution to the community.

The other things we decided in the meeting I’ll be posting more on later, but here’s some sneak peeks:

• We’re bringing back word wars and making the writing prompt competitions less frequent (once a month). We’ll also come out with a year-long schedule of all our guild wars so you’ll know what to expect.
• We’re going to (human resources permitting) get our own “home page” for our guild. Also, I’m going to try to petition Josiah to get us all forum badges that say what guild we’re part of. You’ll then know everybody who’s in a what guild.
• I’m going to work to develop a tighter community here and help us get to know each other better.

If you’ve read this, I’d appreciate a little note saying if you’re all in. If I don’t get a response, I’ll assume you missed this and will follow up by email. 🙂

These are going to be some big changes, but they are going to be good changes too. I’m sorry for anyone who won’t be able to stick around because of time. We’ll miss you!
