Hey guys, I’ve just finished going through the draft again. The ending is slightly different, and a bit about the bracelet has been moved to the beginning, so if you want to check it out and see what you think?

YES!! So true! Learning to trust God and surrender fear is a life long journey…one that cannot be accomplished in a matter of days or weeks.
If you are passionate about what you are writing, I think people can tell and when there is life and fire to one’s writing, it can bring  both conviction and inspiration. GO YOU! Can’t…[Read more]

Does anybody know where to put en dashes, em dashes and hyphens? And does it matter? I’m having trouble understanding it when I research it….

Hey guys, I’m sorry I didn’t get too much done today, but I’m hoping to go over the whole thing a second time and tighten up the wording in the next couple of days. If there’s any place you were confused, you think we could put in more/less information, or anything, please go ahead and comment, and even use the suggesting tool to directly edit the…[Read more]

@bama-rose Thanks! I don’t really know the culture either, but I’m doing my best since I follow figure skating and know a bit of what they do.
And I’ll think about them glancing at each other. My reasons for not including anything like that (yet) are that since we’re trying to make it non-cliche, hopefully the peace that Min has after being…[Read more]

Ooh, that makes so much more sense, but yeah, I agree with @cassandraia that maybe it should be made a little bit more obvious…?

Oh, yes, depression. It’s a hard topic and it makes me so sad that people are unwilling to admit that it exists in the church. I’ve heard that real christian’s don’t have depression theory before…it makes me sad and angry, because even though I’ve never really had to deal with it, I’ve had anxiety issues and people can tend to say…[Read more]

I got the impression Tae-Ki gave it back through Coach Kang as a sign of working toward repairing their friendship, he just wasn’t quite to the point of reconciling one-on-one yet. Tae-Ki took back the bracelet he’d given Min, after their schism, and basically revoked the friendship, and then returned it. At least that’s what I got…[Read more]

Here’s Draft 1! Obviously it’s still a long way from being coherent, but I just want to show this to you all and see what you think.
- Does the setting/background make sense? Have I appeared to stereotype any culture?
- Is the conflict between the characters…

I’ve been thinking recently about something that’s never caught my attention before. Taboos. If I could only ask one question about a culture to learn about it, I’m tempted to think I’d ask about its taboos.
Taboos could keep a whole nation in slavery (for instance, if they think it brings bad luck to question their priests).
Or taboos can…[Read more]

@eden-anderson Thank you! I agree with Noah not agreeing with you about you not being helpful (aka you were helpful)… haha 🙂
@noahlitle *nods* Okay. I don’t think I would be happy doing consistent flashbacks, but I’ll try to do it enough so that the audience can see the parallels between that conversation and this one. I’ll do it with italics…[Read more]

Definitely. The best outreach I got was through DMs, and those were really nice. (Except I forgot to check them when I ducked out of the community and left people hanging for weeks or months at a time…) One-on-one or small group conversations are way easier for me than big posts, lol. Especially since there are no nested replies,…[Read more]

Yeah! 😀 I tend to be on here way more. I actually avoided the Ydub community for a long time, starting just shortly after joining in August, because there were so many people and it was super overwhelming for me. With the Fellowships, though, it’s been a little bit easier. And concrete goals to work toward with the Mystery Hat…[Read more]

Prompt wars are back. Tada!
As a refresher, we have two weeks to come up with a submission. Word limit is 2,500.
This war’s prompt has got me terrified. The prompt?
Write a non-cliché happy ending.
How do you write happy endings? 😮 😮 😮 And how do you make them non-cliché?
I guess this will be instructional for me. 😀

Last week I missed our theme discussion because I got buried in research on the topic. Since then, I compiled all my thoughts into an article which I plan to submit to SE. First though, I’d like to share it with you and get your feedback. 🙂

Hey everyone on the forum. Yes, you.
There’s a Christian film coming out February 22nd called Run The Race and I actually got the chance to preview it at a film festival last year.
Guys, it’s really good! Maybe it’s just slightly cliché, but there’s so much going for it that it gets a resounding A+ from me.
Here are some things I liked about it…[Read more]

Hey Saxon Scribes, as someone who never follows politics, I feel sheepish writing this, but I’ve learned a few things through experience and I wanted to leave you with a challenge.
Few things define a society like its government. Yet, for those of you like me who aren’t familiar with the ins and outs of politics, this can be unnatural t…[Read more]
