I think I shall need to invite you two to have a look at my NaNoWriMo project, or the romantic pieces of it at least, when I get far enough.
My MC, as all MCs must, has a big lesson to learn, and part of the lesson involves how she approaches romance. She is a Christian but, like all Christians, she is a work in progress. She falls, she gets up…[Read more]

That makes a lot of sense. Most of the people in the Bible are certainly not what I would refer to as romantics (not sure about Solomon. Maybe he’s a romantic, but not a great one) but you do make the excellent point that there is at least something to build on.
I, personally, don’t have my characters that start out Christian go any further than…[Read more]

I think the Bible leaves a lot of room for romance…within certain boundaries. I wouldn’t base my romances off many biblical characters for obvious reasons (David, Abraham, Esther, etc.), but I think there are some examples, in the Bible, of what Biblical romance is. Ruth and Boaz are the best example, I believe, but there’s…[Read more]

I’m 100% a romantic, there is nothing that melts my heart faster. But, that being said, how much room does the Bible leave for romance? What is taking it too far, and what is biblical?

I am absolutely late to this thread, but it’s because I’m new. I did not join until recently.
Chivalry is the most romantic thing. But, to be fair, I am such a sappy hopeless romantic. At this point, everything melts my heart. (I least in books and my writing. I know nothing about real-life romance.)
My first thought on when you asked what I…[Read more]

Hi everyone! What is everyone writing? I currently don’t have a romance WIP, but I usually have hints of it in my other stories.
I have a question: How should I build romance? I want to hint at it, but I don’t want it to be in your face. If it helps, my female character is ISTJ and grew up alone most of her life. My male character is ESFP…[Read more]-
Hi Ella,
It looks like your question has been here a little while, but I suppose I could throw in my two cents anyway, since I had a similar setup in my first book (except the girl was the more outgoing one.) I actually don’t think the pacing of your romance is too much dependent on whether your character is more introverted/quiet, or…[Read more]-
Sorry for not getting back to you, Zee! Thanks for your advice! I’ll definitely think about what you said. Appreciate it! 🤗

Oooh I agree! There’s something special in historical romance that is very rare these days (and therefore in contemporary fiction). Chivalry is almost bittersweet in being so beautiful but also lacking.
I think with romance, as with a lot of things in writing, it’s so important to understand its purpose. It can be…[Read more]
