âWell, we have Hungarian Horn-tails, Chinese Fireballs, Peruvian Viper-teeth, and Welsh Greens to name a few,â Hermione said.
âAll sorts of dragons, big and small, friendly and firey!â Ron broke in. âIn fact, my brother Charlie is off in Romania right now studying dragons.â
âHagrid owned a Norwegian Ridgeback about a year ago,â Harry added thoughtfully.
âReally?â Kalmar asked. âItâs strange we havenât met any of these other kinds.â
âIt is odd, isnât it?â Hermione asked, and turned to Janner. âYou said you lived in Anniera? Would you mind showing me where exactly that is?â She gestured to a large, circular table at the center of the room, which held a map.
âSure,â Janner said, and stepped up to the round table. He looked down to the map, squinted for a moment, and then jabbed his finger down. âThere,â He said. Hermione peered down at the place and narrowed her eyes.
âHmm.â She shrugged. âAll right.â
âHey, this castle looks huge! Why donât you two quit poring over that thing and look around with us?â Ron called from behind them.
Hermione looked to Janner.
“Why not?” He grinned.

January 23, 2021 at 3:30 pm #124226Janner smiled as they went out of the room and started to explore. Leeli kept one hand on Fang’s back as she limped along.
“So, how old are you guys?” Harry asked.
“I’m thirteen, Kal just turned twelve, and Leeli’s nine, almost ten.” Janner said.
“So,” Hermione said. “You and Kalmar are Hogwarts age, and Leeli’s almost there.”
Janner grinned. “I guess so. How old are you?”

I stretch my arms and legs as I step out of the carbonite. My skin is clammy, and my eyesight is blurry, but I can still see Anakin Skywalker emerge from his carbon-freezing block beside me, enveloped in a cloud of steam. I smile to myself as I work my arms to get the blood moving. He wonât be happy.
âHey, Snips,â my master says with a yawn while flexing his taut muscles.
âMaster,â I reply.
Anakin does a double take and then exclaims, âAhsoka! What are you doing here?â
Master Obi-Wan Kenobi comes up from behind us and raises an eyebrow. âUnless I am suffering from carbon-sickness, I think I see Ahsoka.â
âItâs not your eye-sight that needs help, Obi-Wan,â Anakin retorts snarkily, âitâs Ahsokaâs hearing.â He turns to me. âI told you to stay!â
âI received orders! I spoke to Master Plo-Koon and he said I should come.â
âI never saw you talking with him!”
âYou were already frozen, Master,â I smile.
Obi-Wan grins. âAnakin, I believe that your teaching method is to do as I say and not as I do, but your Padawan is much too like you to follow orders.â
He turns to address the Clone Troopers surrounding the ship, who are adjusting helmets and checking ammo. They are brave, and I hate it that they have no choice but to run right into death. R2-D2 is giving beeped instructions to the repurposed battle droids he is commanding. Anakin sighs and shakes his head as I fold my arms, ready to defend myself.
âAhsoka, this is a very dangerous mission and you really shouldnât be here,â he says, although he knows the argument is futile.
âMaster, all of our missions are dangerous. And I canât leave, so youâre stuck with me now.â
âSnipsâŠâ Anakin doesnât know what to say, so he just claps me on the shoulder and smiles. âJust donât do anything brash.â
âYou know I will only if it’s to get YOU out of something brash.â
He laughs, and we join Obi-Wan and the clones. The Jedi master is laying out the plan for entering the Citadel to rescue a captured Jedi and his commanders so they wonât reveal information to the Separatists. It is a vital mission: whichever way it turns could affect the whole tide of the war. However, just as we start to leave the ship, I start to feel dizzy and my vision blurs. I stagger a little, and just before I fall I feel Anakinâs arms under mine.
âAhsoka? Whatâs wrong? Answer me now! Ahsoka!â
I black out.
**************************************************************************************************
Iâm slumped against a cool, smooth wall, my head against my chest. Suddenly, I jerk wide awake and leap to my feet. The Citadel. The mission. Anakin. Where are they? Come to think of it, where am I? This certainly isnât where we landed the ship. In fact, Iâm standing on a small gilded balcony barely large enough to sit on, looking over a large, round room. There is no door behind me, only a wall.
Surely Anakin and Obi-Wan wouldnât have put me in such a strange place — they would have left me with the ship and R2. I hear voices, and peek over the black iron of the railing. There is a small group of people below me, about seven of them and one large beast. They are human, besides the hairy creature. The little girl with a hurt leg and the large, muscular man catch my eye first; the rest seem average. Where am I? I must get back!
Right now, as Master Obi-Wan would say, I have the high ground. I look up, but there is no way out through the ceiling, and no other windows except below, near the floor. No doors either, except for one behind the group. I fiddle with the hilt of one of my green lightsabers.
What in the galaxy am I supposed to do? What type of joke is this? It canât be a prison in the Citadel. I look down again and see the group start to move off. They don’t seem hostile.
âItâs now or never,â I huff to myself, and leap off of the railing, using the force to slow my fall. I land in a crouch on the tiled floor and silently follow the humans. They might lead me out of here or reveal information.
âIâm coming, Sky-Guy. Just make sure to leave some of the fun for me.â

Tapestries hung on the walls, one displaying a man shooting a huge dragon as flames of a burning town leapt higher about them (1). Another showed a hawk above a rabbit. Oddly, both the rabbit and the hawk were wearing clothes (2). Yet another showed a man on a blue dragon fighting hideous creatures (3). As he walked, Kalmar’s mind turned to what had brought them here. He and Janner had been racing back to Castle Rysen, and before they had left (Nia (4) had asked them to run a recipe up to Kinnan, Elder Cadwick’s wife) had said she was going to practice her whistleharp. ‘What happened to us.’ He wondered. ‘And where in Aerwiar are we? Are we even in Aerwiar? Kalmar was startled out of his thoughts when he heard Janner ask “…How old are you?”

January 23, 2021 at 10:49 pm #124247âHarry and I are twelve, and Ron just turned thirteen,â Hermione said as the group exited the large chamber.
âWeâre all second-years at Hogwarts,â Harry added, but as he spoke Hermione stuck her hand out over his mouth.
âWhat? What is it?â Ron asked excitedly.
âShush!â Hermione said. She looked to Janner. âDid you hear something?â He and the others stilled and listened. Not a breath stirred.
Hermione whipped around, wand arm out, and shouted, âExpelliarmus!â
Two thin metal cylinders clattered to the ground, and a thin humanoid figure crouched before the group. She extended a dark red-brown arm and the two metal objects returned to her grasp.
âImpedimenta!â Ron cried with a flick of his wand, though his pronunciation was slightly off. The newcomer stiffened, but then quickly escaped the botched spell. Two glowing green blades erupted from the hilts, and she assumed a defensive stance.
Janner shoved past Hermione and came in between her and the newcomer.
âWait, wait! You attacked us when we first met, and we turned out to be fine, right? Letâs give her a chance,â Janner said, and turned to the girl.âIâm Janner Wingfeather. Whatâs your name?â He asked cautiously.
The girl straightened out and deactivated her lightsabers.
âAhsoka,â She said, clipping the hilts to her belt. âAhsoka Tano.â~~~~~~~

I creep along behind the cluster of humans and their large beast, keeping my footsteps soft and hoping that they won’t hear and will stay busy talking. By their conversation I learn that I am about their ages. Good. I glance at the colorful tapestries hung on the gilded walls; most are of men/creatures fighting great beasts. But one (1.) shows a man wearing a lavender dressing gown and smoking a large pip reclining behind a desk with his long legs perched up on it. Odd. Another (2.) shows a lone girl with long black braids standing among a great barren landscape with several small huts in the distance. And then, a large, rectangular pattern (3.) catches my eye and I stop in my tracks. It shows two blue blades clashing against a fiery background, the two silhouettes perched high above a roaring river of bubbling lava. I put a finger on the face of one of the characters. Is that? And the other, is that??
I shake my head, my Padawan braids tingling against my montrals. It can’t be; the picture is too discreet to tell anyway, and how would something like that end up here? And I have a mission to carry out. I turn my back on it and move forward again. But, suddenly, I hear a loud cry: âExpelliarmus!â
My lightsabers drop to the floor, and immediately I draw them back again with a grunt. Force users!
âImpedimenta!â
My head is suddenly cloudy and I can’t think; then I push back and grit my teeth. Petty mind-tricks. I twirl my green blades so that one is held diagonally in front of me, and the other pointed behind my back. Just at that moment, however, one of the group — a boy — steps between me and the others.
âWait, wait! You attacked us when we first met, and we turned out to be fine, right? Letâs give her a chance,â he says to humans. Then he turns to me.
âIâm Janner Wingfeather. Whatâs your name?â
I straighten my back and clip my lightsabers onto my belt and raise my brow. “Ahsoka. Ahsoka Tano. May I ask who you are and where I am? Is this the Citadel?” Then I turn to the three in the group who wield little sticks. “Where did you learn to use the force?” I ask sternly. “Dooku?”
It seems that everyone who isn’t a Jedi or a Sith, but uses a lightsaber or the force, was trained by Count Dooku. These don’t seem like users of the Dark Side, but one can never be too sure. I just have no idea what I will do if they are practicing the Dark Side. May the Force be with me, because Iâll need it!

Ron piped up after introductions were finished. âWhatâs the force? And whatâs a Dooku?â
âCount Dooku is the leader of the Separatists.â she said, and squinted at them. âAnd the force⊠well, you just used it. On me,â she added drily.
âYou mean the spell? Is that what the force is? Magic?â Harry asked.
âNo!â Ahsoka shook her head vigorously. âThe force isnât tricks and spells, itâs the energy field that connects all of us, everything living, with the rest of the universe.â She paused and studied each of them. âYou really donât know what Iâm talking about, do you?â
âNo, sorry,â Hermione spoke on all of their behalves.
âNever mind, then,â Ahsoka said, a bit hastily. âI really need to get back to my master. Have you seen anyone come through here?â
Janner shook his head.
âDo you know where the exit is?â Ahsoka asked.
âWe here are in the same fix as you, Ahsoka,â Hagrid said. âWe know nothinâ âbout this âere castle.â

January 26, 2021 at 8:13 pm #124326What’s a Dooku?
Ha ha! Love it! đ
***************************************************************************************************
âWe here are in the same fix as you, Ahsoka,â the big man said. âWe know nothinâ âbout this âere castle.â
These people really have no clue as to where they are, and it leaves so many unanswered questions! How did they know how to use the Force, and why don’t they know what it is? How did they get here and what are they doing? Why don’t they know about the Separatists and Count Dooku? Have they been living in a bunker for the past several years?
Perhaps it is a trick of the Citadel; they could be against me. But I don’t sense any evil around them; they are actually very polite. I doubt this even is the Citadel, for Lola Sayu is way too ugly for such a beautiful palace, or whatever this grand building is. What I need is a window, to see where I am — and to escape out of.
“Well,” I say, folding my arms, “since none of us know of an exit, it would be a good thing to find one. I can lead and cover us –” I pat my ‘sabers — “but we’ll need someone to back us up.”
I look up at the huge man and smile. “Sir, could you and your beast be our rear guard?”
***************************************************************************************************
I don’t really know how Harry and his friends will react to Ahsoka assuming the position of leader, so I’ll just leave it to you! Also, what type of magic do they use?
I light the arrow, pull the bow,
Shoot that fire right through my soul.January 26, 2021 at 9:35 pm #124327Their magic system is relatively simple. You learn a spell, and make sure your pronunciation and wand motions are right. Then whatever the spell is supposed to do just happens. It does take effort to learn a spell, though. But after youâve mastered it thereâs no cost to casting it.
There are also potions and other magical items/creatures, but I donât know if theyâll be using many of those in the castle.

January 26, 2021 at 10:08 pm #124330âSir, could you and your beast be our rear guard?â
âYes maâam!â Hagrid said, and clomped over to the back of the group, Fang following closely behind. Hermione watched him go, and then turned to Ahsoka.
âWhy do we need a rear guard? We havenât seen anyone else in this castle,â she said.âItâs what you donât see that you should be wary of,â Ahsoka responded darkly, and started down the hall.
âWhatâs that sâposed to mean?â Ron asked. Hermione rolled her eyes and brushed past him.
Ahsoka walked at a brisk pace down the wide stone hall, and the group followed behind her. Hermione didnât catch up to the Togruta until they reached an intersection.
âWe should split up. We can explore more of this place that way,â Ahsoka said.
âIf this place is dangerous maybe we shouldnât split up,â Janner said with an edge of concern to his voice. He looked protectively over to his brother and sister. Ahsoka nodded and the paused for a moment.âAlthough we should be cautious, I donât sense any danger here,â she said. âJanner, you can stay with your sister. Go with Harry and Hagrid down that hall.â She pointed to the passage on the left. âThe rest of you can come with me. Meet back here in twenty minutes.â
Everyone nodded and began walking down their designated halls. Hermione kept pace beside Ahsoka for a moment before speaking up.
âSorry I blasted you with a spell when we first met,â she said rather sheepishly.
âDonât feel bad. You were on alert, and reacted well. Besides, whatever you did to disarm me was pretty impressive,â Ahsoka smiled down at Hermione, who blushed.
âThank you. This place just makes me jittery, and my spells tend to be a little wonky when Iâm nervous.â
Ron laughed. âItâs not just the spells that go wonky,â he grinned.
âRon!â Hermione jabbed with her elbow.
Ron skittered away from her and followed them down the hall at a distance.
While no one was looking he paused and sniffed the air, nudged one of the doors open, and slipped curiously into the room.
