      AMBERLEY’S POV

      I stared at Rupert Greeves. He seemed kind, but there was a shadow lurking in his eyes, a deep sadness over… something. The mark of a war-torn veteran. I should know; my older brother was in the Marines and when he came home on leave,* I saw that shadow much too often.

      “Nice to meet you Rupert.” I said, shaking his hand. He smiled at me, then turned back to Ahsoka–maybe they had been having a conversation or something.

      I scanned the room to see who all was there. Ron was in the corner by a painting of nine figures in two boats sailing toward two huge statues. (1) Janner and Kalmar were discussing something or other, and Leeli was chatting amiably with two clones. It was peaceful, but I got the feeling it was the calm before the storm.

      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      *That is what you call it, right?
      (1) The Fellowship of the Ring sailing towards the Argonath.
      Sorry it’s so short!
        “Harry?” Hermione asked as she slowly sat up, rubbing her eyes.
        “Hermione! You’re awake!” Harry grinned.
        “Yes, and I’m quite happy about that, but listen, Harry, I have some important information. Help me up and we’ll tell the others,” Hermione said.
        Harry quickly complied and guided a slightly shaky Hermione out of the room.
        She seemed to regain her strength as they entered the other chamber.
        “Everyone,” Hermione called. All those present turned to look.
        “I think I know what we have to do to defeat Macha.”
        That statement was met with a flurry of questions, comments, and shouts of either support or confusion.
        Ahsoka rolled her eyes in mild annoyance and moved beside Hermione. She ignited her green lightsaber and held it high over her head.
        “Listen to what she has to say,” Ahsoka commanded, successfully silencing the room.
        Hermione took a deep breath and continued.
        “Before Macha’s magic took full effect, she made sure to take one of the books I was carrying. This book contains information of Irish myth: origins, strengths, weaknesses
 I believe that she wants to keep it from us-”
        “-because that book will tell us how to defeat her!” Janner spoke up, blue eyes alight with realization. “If we get that book
”
        “We get the key to defeating Macha,” Hermione finished, smiling at Janner.
          EMBERYN’S POV
          I nudged Amberley’s wheelchair forward with my foot.
          “What?” She whispered.
          I leaned forward and murmured, “Tell them what you know about Macha. You’re quite possibly the best resource of information we have here on her.”
          The people in the room had heard us and were looking at Am. She glared at me, then wheeled herself forward.
          “Ok. So, I don’t know as much about Macha as some of the other Irish myths–” Everyone groaned.
          “BUT,” Amberley raised her voice over the moans of irritation. “I do know some.”
          ” The first time Macha took emotions, they were her son’s, the giant Mac Lir. His two dogs had died, and Mac Lir cried a whole ocean over their deaths. Macha could not stand to see her son in such pain, created magical jars, and with them stole her son’s emotions, turning him to stone. After doing this, Macha decided to ‘help’ others in pain by stealing their emotions. Faerys, wolfwalkers, humans… the list went on and on. Finally, when Macha could find no more, she took part of her own emotions. The hills of Ireland were filled mourning over the loss of their loved ones. *One young selkie, one of the seal-folk, could not bear to hear the cries, so she set out to see the Great SeanachaĂ, holder of all the memories of Ireland. He told her that the only way to defeat Macha and free those trapped in stone was to sing the Song of the Sea. The young selkie did so, and freed the people, and put mocha out of action, at least for a while. Macha still hates the seal-folk, and is always on the look out for a selkie who will defeat her.”
          The room was silent after Amberley finished.
            Oooo, I really like your take on the legend. 😉
            So, I don’t know if you saw my post, but maybe they defeat Macha by learning the Song of the Sea, or summoning a selkie somehow? (alliteration unintentional) if so, that book I mentioned in my post would tell them how to do that.
              I love it! And I do unintentional alliteration all the time (and intentional alliteration too 😛 ). Also, is Hagrid still there?
                      Yeah, he’s still there, but I kind of forgot about him…sorry, Hagrid!! I’ll try and write him into the next scene. I wonder if Rupert would be intimidated by him at all… I guess we’ll have to wait and see. 😉
                        Sorry to bother you, but I’m not sure what else I can have Rupert do without needing Ahsoka so do something other than just. . . stand there.
                              *begins considering how Rupert is likely to react to meeting Hagrid* Not sure if he’d be intimidated or not. . . probably not, come to think of it — at least, not very much. I mean, Rupe’s faced off with Gilgamesh for crying out loud, and while I don’t know how tall Gil is in order to make an exact comparison with Hagrid, he is described as “very tall.” And he has six fingers on each hand. Rupe shot a bullet into Gil’s ear from close range once and it only stunned him. So. . . yeah.
                              But after Googling how tall Hagrid is, I expect that he is taller than Gilgamesh (and infinitely friendlier XD).
                              I expect that Rupert will be somewhat suspicious of him at first, given the fact that at the point in the series that I plucked him from, all but two of the transmortals are after him (and everyone who’s with him). But perhaps the fact that Hagrid is being friendly towards all of the kids will win him over 😉
                              Oh, and BTW, I’m not gonna be able to come on here again (after 3:00 today) till Monday, so I’m not gonna be able to respond if I get tagged. Just thought I’d let y’all know 🙂
                                  Hermione brightened after Amberly finished speaking.
                                  “That’s what must be in the book. The Song of the Sea!” Hermione said.
                                  “Great job, Am,” Emberyn grinned at his sister.
                                  “Yeah, Amberly, thanks to you and Hermione we finally have a real plan,” Harry said.
                                  “Aw, thanks you guys,” Amberly smiled, blushing slightly.
                                  ~~~

                                  A little later Hagrid and Fang clomped into the room.

                                  Rupert turned to see who had entered the room, and tensed at the sight of Hagrid’s towering form.

                                  “Hello, Hagrid. Find anything useful?” Ahsoka asked, walking up to the enormous man. She gave Rupert a look and then turned back to Hagrid.

                                  “Well, I ‘ave found some things, but I’m not real sure how useful you’ll find ‘em.”

                                  With this Hagrid pulled several small objects from his heavy coat.

                                  “I found ‘em in some sort o’ old nursery, just sittin’ around gatherin’ dust, lookin’ all sad an’ lonely, so I thought I’d jus’ bring a few back here, see if any o’ you could find any fun in them.” Hagrid passed out several colorfully painted and old-fashioned toys to the kids. A few small wooden soldiers and horses, several tops, three cloth dolls, and even a nutcracker populated Hagrid’s find.

                                  “They’re so pretty!” Leeli said, picking up one of the dolls as she and Hermione studied the intricate details of the dolls’ clothes. “Thank you,” Leeli smiled, and hugged Hagrid’s leg.

                                  “Aw, no need t’ thank me, they’s just some ol’ toys,” Hagrid said sheepishly.

                                  “I think they’re a little more than that,” Hermione smiled up to him.
