Knaphello, Knaplingers!

As you’ve probably noticed, activity has been pretty low here. It’s the same with the other guilds.

That’s fine if everyone’s busy, but if it’s just because the guilds weren’t attractive enough…

Well, we should do something about that then.

After talking it over with the other SE staff, We have an idea. This isn’t a premade decision. We haven’t voted on it or anything. We really want your input so we can know how to act!

We think the guilds might not be serving their original purpose. Their original purpose around which they were designed was to create tight-knit communities.

But what we’ve found is that writers build their close communities with the people they naturally click with.

The weekly theme discussions were supposed to help with community building, but they haven’t done that super well.

We thought of a replacement activity that might create more community interaction and overall be more helpful. What if: there was a form where you could submit any writing questions you had? Then, every week, an officially appointed person from SE would take one of those questions and write a reply post in the general forum? In addition, what if every week, one of those same people posted a discussion question in the general forum?

Note: This does not mean the guilds would go away, or be disbanded. They would still be here, and our primary focus would be on the guild wars, or if someone wanted to share something in a bit more of a closed, private setting. But the major focus of writing discussion would go to the general forum, and you guys would have the opportunity to ask questions and get answers specifically relevant to what you’re dealing with in your writing life.

What do you all think? It’s just an idea, so don’t be scared to give a shout if you don’t like it.
