Erekdale! A new year is upon us! I don’t know why I entered solemnly, because there’s not really any reason to. Unless we are supposed to be sad that a year is over and done. But hey, there’s always another year to take it’s place!

Which means a couple hundred days that we get to spend together in this little community, expanding our horizons, writing skill, and friendships! I look forward to getting to know you all better, and really forging a sense of togetherness throughout this year. All things considered, the guilds are fairly young, and we’re all on this journey together, so here’s to a whole lot of growth! *holds up drink and cheers*

Some of you may have seen a thread on the forums in which someone from another guild asked whether she should leave her guild or not, due to feeling that it was rather inactive, and that it was eating time without giving back very much. A lively (pleasant!) conversation ensued, and a lot of different ideas were brought up. I’d love it if all of you could go check out that thread and read as much of it as you can. At this point in the life of the guilds (still relatively young, as I mentioned before), I think healthy, open feedback is going to be one of the most important thing that will help us grow. This will be helpful both for the guildmasters and for you guildlings, as well, as we work together to capitalize on the things that work really well, and put less emphasis on the things that don’t work as well.

As your guildmaster, I view myself as a facilitator of discussion, rather than possessing any special position of authority, so I would love to have a let’s-put-this-on-the-table-and-talk-about-it conversation in this thread. 🙂 Feel free to add your thoughts to the original thread on the main forum, too. But I wanted to open space for discussion within our guild as well, because some of the specific problems (or good things!) of Erekdale might not apply to all of the guilds.

I want this to be an open space from here forward, too, not just for one week or something like that. I am quite definitely an INFP, so I love ideas for improvement. Even if they are critiques about me/the way that I present topics, or interact, or what have you. I’m known as a bit of a teddy bear to some, so don’t be afraid to approach me about any way that I can improve. 😛 The beard is mostly for show!

So yeah.

Feel free to drop any ideas, critiques, suggestions, comments, complaints, fears, etc… anything. Let’s talk about what works, what doesn’t work so much, and ways we can all make this a more meaningful, enriching, and educational writing community.
