Good evening, Ereki!
This will be our last topic on conflict. I just wanted to take a minute to summarize what we went over and highlight some important points:
– Conflict is the lifeblood of stories. If there’s no conflict, there’s no story.
– The strongest conflict is internal conflict. It’s what makes external conflict and everything else in a story meaningful
– The main internal conflict in a story is created by the character’s Ghost and evolved by his or her backstory
– Story conflict is what drives the internal conflict and gives it a visible manifestation to the readers
– Story conflict is made up of scene conflict, and each scene should be boosting the story conflict/internal conflict forward.
I think we had a very thorough twenty-one weeks of exploring conflict 😉 I have one final question for you:
Have these discussions helped you? How have they been useful?Â
While it’s fun for me to do research and create activities, the main point is to have these discussions benefit you guildmembers 😉
Our next topic discussion will be….
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!
Characters and conflict to hand in hand, so our past discussions will help us with these new ones. We’ll be working on character development for the next three to four months, starting next week.
Lastly, thank you all for being such amazing guild members. I’m honored to be part of such an epic group of writers 😀
