Hi guys,

One element of character development I’ve never heard discussed before is strange ways of speaking. Think of Gollum, Pete the sock man, Spook, etc.

I’m going to propose that these oddities are not only charming but make a story world immersive and strikingly real.

As far as character development goes, all I can say is that I always remember the characters who speak strangely.

The questions I have for you are:

Do you think we remember these characters just because they are odd or do their ways of speaking actually deepen their characters? If so, how?

Do you have any plans to create a character who speaks funny?

Who are your favorite characters with this quality?
