Just drafted this up as a brainstorm idea
The best setup would be to use Instagram as your main social media to spread your influence and brand with links back to a website where you can list your services and cost along with forms for people to fill out for their choice of commissions. Plus this would be where you would want to spell out out the terms and conditions of what you will not do and also add your payment like PayPal or something else. You can then use a link from both website and Instagram page to go back to artstation portfolio page.
Wow! These are really cool! I really like your elf and the cyborg.
Hi! I have seen a good amount of artists use Artstation as a great place to showcase your work. They then often share it out there through Pinterest and Instagram. I would say Instagram would be the best social media place to do it. I would love to see your work. I have noticed a huge surge in need for graphic artists for dnd art both for individuals and also dnd content creation teams as there has been a ton of addon content being released.
As a dnd player I love seeing my character as a head portrait and then some heroic poses either just in a casual stance or a fighting one. It helps me visualize my character’s actions in the storytelling. I hope help this helps.
Hi! I am not a professional artist but I have been doodling with both the Intuos Pro and Wacom Cintiq Pro 16 in. They are both very good options but things to consider is that the Intuos pro requires major hand and eye coordination which many like myself struggle through it and takes a long time to master. I honestly don’t that free time working fulltime and it was much easier to save up for the Cintiq Pro with an easier learning curve since you can look at the same screen you are drawing on, if your hand and eye coordination are not very balanced. I hope this helps.

We mainly just use for sharing our favorite quotes. What brings you to story embers if I may ask? Would like you to share a little more about yourself? Do you have any current projects or goals you are working in your writing? What are your favorite genres and books?
I am working on a rather ambitious story idea. Think of it as combing Lord of the Rings with Star Wars but we will get there through different technological era stages. I love fantasy like Lord of the Rings, Narnia, Inheritance Cycle, and The Stormlight Archives. I like some science fiction like the Skyward series. My goal for my story is to create a world I love mixed with godly principles and applications for both secular and Christians to enjoy. I hope to use storytelling as my tool for witness as people always like talking about stories.
Hi Aesira! Welcome to Story Embers! Glad to have you with us. You can set your forum signature if you click on your name on the top right of the webpage, click on profile and then edit.
Yess! I am dying to read Murtagh! I have not heard of those books before, they do sound intriguing. – adding them to my list
Dickens’s David Copperfield was a childhood favorite growing up.
Lol XD yeah Tolkien definitely sets a high bar. I may not be able to surpass him in everything but I am positive it will be at least 2/3rd’s and then mix that in with Brandon Sanderson worldbuilding and some new experimental ideas.
I need to check out Madeleine L’Engle as I want to make my story full of beauty and joy. I really enjoyed the fathomless depths of magic in The Inheritance cycle. However I appreciate the more scientific approach to magic or techno-magic that Brandon Sanderson uses due to its aptitude focus on technology and inventions.
Your WIP sounds full possibilities and intriguing. Is this more urban fantasy or high fantasy?
I have way too many other books planned out and they will all be connected to my universe as side stories. XD
I don’t like horror either but do think jump/scare scenes are great to mix in the book especially if your world has a lot of scary beasties. hehehehe
I have never written any romance before but I going to give it my best shot for a few characters in my WIP. So far I seem to be doing ok at as my writers think I have a decent knack for it. Must be those Hallmark movies I had to endure when I am hanging out at home with my mom. I find the slow burn romance arcs the most rewarding. My goal is to set a better standard of a godly relationship in Christian fantasy as many I have seen and know have chosen to use graphic details/sensual thoughts that honestly destroy or divert the focus of the story if they are trying to include Christian themes into it.
I can’t agree more on how annoying it is with those love triangles. There is like a science behind it why women choose the darker/ more likely to be trouble kind of guys than the nice ones. I read in several places online is that women feel those who are dark and brooding tend to be appear more sincere/genuine and not people pleasers. Just unfair that’s what it is! XD
Rants are always welcome here as this was a fun read.
My WIP in a nutshell of the first 1/3rd of the story starts off with a young princess exiled from home as her kingdom was overrun and massacred by an unknown force. She must regather her surviving friends and people to rebuild. It seems God is looking after her as she falls right into the right people she needs not just a few but a whole nomad army of them. Many of whom have pasts and histories some most surprising of them are with her family. She is young and has much to learn but she is willing to push herself to the brink of death to be what is needed for her people. A soldier, military commander, laborer, a friend, a diplomat, a voice of calmness and hope, a princess, but what about a queen or…empress. She honestly hates looking like royalty like she is a lawn ornament for boys to gawk at. She must unite the peoples of her world or face a onslaught of division and conquest that will either exterminate or enslave all she knows and loves. She must first discover and unearth the mastermind enemy plotting out her world’s demise.
I am also a homeschool graduate.
I would love to have a writing career. I hope to create a Christian entertainment business of storytelling through novels or roleplaying games. Like how cool would it be to play with friends as if you lived in middle earth as a side character in Lord of the Rings. I hope to create something like that with my novel series as my world itself is huge. Life has been slow with limited time and energy to get writing done after work with a full time job while living on your own. But the Lord knows how much I hope to write for a living.
Hi Lydia! I am Josh and welcome to the crew! We hope we can be a blessing to you and your WIP’s.
I am a huge fantasy and sci-fi fan. I am currently writing an ambitious WIP that starts off with fantasy but then turns into sci-fi, kinda like mixing Lord of the Rings with Star Wars. Lord of the Rings opened up my love for worldbuilding but it was the Redwall Series by Brian Jacques that made me love storytelling. My other favorite novels is The Inheritance Cycle, Stormlight Archives, and my top favorite space story The Skyward Series.
I would say Lord of the Rings has set my level of ambition of doing as much and more than Tolkien did for worldbuilding. However, the themes and my light humor for a dark world comes from Redwall.
When I was in high school, I started writing mainly for myself a chronicles of a knight, his squire, and a few men at arms that got separated during the battle of Agincourt and their journey back to England through the hostile French countryside.
I have always admired embroidering especially if it is of medieval design. Tea is always where it is at, I enjoy my mango or elderberry with plenty of honey.
What are your favorite books? Do you have a current WIP you are working right now? What books or things of life do you find influences your writing the most?
Sword fights are the best! I plan add in songs written like poems as apart of scenes. These will be used to deepen the emotions and message of the theme the scene carries.
@maitasuna
Stormlight Archives is full of secrets and conspiracies that connect to other stories that cover other world in his galaxy, The Cosmere. His characters and their development are super inspiring as they struggle and grow to do the right thing. The world of Roshar is very intriguing and unique with its world mechanics and worldbuilding details.I have heard of The Girl Who Drank the Moon, definitely an interesting story.
I have been trying to learn classical guitar for a long time and hope to finally learn it. I used to be good at drawing but got rusty. I hope to get back into the hang of it for my story’s illustration.
I mainly spend my free time with writing and worldbuilding. I love swordfighting/hema and archery which fuels my passion for medieval fantasy stories. I love music and plan to add songs to my story.
Hi I am Josh and welcome to the crew! We are glad to have you onboard and hope we can be an encouragement and blessing in your writing journey! I am science fantasy writer working on my first novel of a rather overly ambitious project with the inspirations of my favorite stories such as: Lord of the Rings, Narnia, The Redwall Series, Stormlight Archives, and The Inheritance Cycle.
I am a middle sibling (almost 28 yrs old) with a brother 12 yrs older and and a sister 6 yrs younger. God’s timing is always perfect but rather interesting in my case. lol XD
What genres do you enjoy writing? What are your favorite books? What hobbies do you like to do that have the most influence in your writing?
No, I am surprised I have never heard of him and will definitely check it out. My favorite is fantasy too. The Wingfeather Saga is next on my reading list but I have heard so much, I feel like I have already read it. XD My top favorite fantasy series is Redwall by Brian Jacques. My other top favorites are Lord of the Rings, The Inheritance Cycle, and Narnia.
Your WIP’s sound really interesting. You must really like dragons. XD My WIP is a mix of fantasy, steampunk, alternate earth modern age, and space. It will go through different eras of time till we get to space age that will be like star wars/star trek. It is a very ambitious project XD But it has a lot of dragon in every way possible. lol
Which WIP do you favor the most if you had to pick one to focus on?
Hi Ava! I am Josh and Story Embers is one of the few best things that God has led me to on my path to be Christian Fantasy writer. It is great to have you here with us and love your username! Is it something from a WIP? What genre(s) do you enjoy writing? What are some of your favorite novels?
