@evelyn I did finish! *bounces like a hyperactive rabbit* My friends and I did a month-long writing challenge together. I still have eight thousand words to write to make 50K. Goodness, I think this month was the most productive in my life. (For writing, at least. xD)
@steward-of-the-pen Thanks! Sorry, I was at the DMV for most of the afternoon…[Read more]

GUYS GUYS GUYS GUYS!
GUESS WHAT???
WE WOOOON. Not the usual Honorable Mention for a change! Ā 😝
Here is the doc if you want to check them out.
Jane was reeeeally impressed. She was super impressed, particularaly seeing that I sent her a message a day or so before saying, “ACK. THERE’S A WAR AND I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE PARIMIS ARE DOING.”…[Read more]

@shadowwriter161 Classic disney is the best! One of my favorites is either Peter Pan or Robin Hood. The Great Mouse Detective is a great one too! What are some of your favorites?
@steward-of-the-pen ^_^ Thanks! I can’t believe I wrote that like 3 years ago, lol! It’s so true when it comes to characters though. Like, I find that a lot of my…[Read more]

Guys, I’m so proud of you!
It was really nice to come back from a week of injections, hospital trips, conferences, and essays (legit. It should not be legal to assign teenagers with thirteen essays to do in five days. *dramatic sob*) and to find that you had gotten on with writing, and had done an a.m.a.z.i.n.g job at it. So proud. You guys made…[Read more]

@steward-of-the-pen – You did a great job! I think you’ve already incorporated most of what I had written, so I don’t think I need to put mine in. And I love your ending. It’s so beautiful, so sweet.

@steward-of-the-pen – I’ve finished a rough draft with all the current suggestions, so would you mind if I posted it at the end of the doc now? Or would you like me to wait for you to post yours?

@steward-of-the-pen, changing to present tense is a good idea.
Also, since Jane is judging, I think we should focus on making the prose and character voice strong.
We can do this! Go Parimi Alca!

Good points. I like the idea of the kid carrying the grandmother out.
About to head over to the doc and see what’s going on over there.

This is a good point. Inside the burning house probably wouldn’t be the best place to write the reminiscing scene. @j-a-penrose @everyone_else What do you guys think?
And if you agree, how should the MC and grandmother get out? Should we use an older MC who’s able to carry the grandmother out? Should a firefighter intervene? Any other…[Read more]

Okay guys. So sorry I’ve been gone, been dealing with doctors not believing me about my allergies until it was pretty obvious I was a mess, combined with the end of term rush of writing a ton of essays and music reports. *facepalm* But I’m back now.
I’m agreeing with Grandmother’s hands. Also, seeing that it has to be in a dramatic setting, maybe…[Read more]

Okay, I see what you’re all saying. Good points, good points. *nods sagely*
So we’re going with the grandmother hands then? Someone needs to draft it, soon…I would love to, but I don’t have a clear vision/path for how I would do it…

@elisha-starquill I love your idea, but I do agree with @steward-of-the-pen that they might not fit the prompt, simply for not being ordinary š But I think it would be cool if we all wrote that on our own instead of for a war sometime š
I think we should go for writing about the grandmother’s hands; what do you guys think?

@steward-of-the-pen I will admit I had concerns similar to yours. I didn’t bring it up before because, like you said, we’re a little short on time. Misrepresenting Jesus is something we definitely don’t want to do. There are some instances when Biblical fiction is done right, and others when it isn’t. The A.D. Chronicles by Brock and Bodie Thoene…[Read more]

@ariella-newheart Thanks! And yes, that character in the leaf snippet does seem oddly familiar, doesn’t it. 🤔 Ironically, I was also thinking of a red-headed, wavy-haired character while writing it. Maybe I was unconsciously thinking about Ariella. xD
And also, that’s a good point. 🤔
@elisha-starquill I really like that idea, and Iād say go f…[Read more]

@evelyn Thanks!!
@steward-of-the-pen I think I have decided on a permanent title for Fire Moon. It’s called The Shackles of the Free because the theme of the story is freedom. I’m still mulling over it, but I think I’ve made my decision. š
Quick question, have you put all the rest of the chapters in the doc? I have one more bit of feedback, but…

I know this is kind of last minute, but I have a suggestion. I really like the idea of hands, because as Sherlock would say, hands are often ignored, but they tell you a lot about a person. What if, instead of a grandmother’s hands, we did Jesus’ hands? From since he was a baby, to doing carpenter work, to healing people in his ministry, to the…[Read more]
