@daeus-lamb (and all the peoples π
Okay, I got some of that. π See if I’m understanding you correctly: Disposition is a broad foundation of a part of a character. On this foundation, mood, current emotional reactions and worldview are built. When the house is finished and the reader is given a tour of part of the house (a scene), they don’t…[Read more]

Ohh, itewesting.
1. I think it definitely makes the characters more unique, and unique helps make characters deeper. It’s the 2D, cardboard-ish characters we forget easily, that seem shallow. Deep characters have strong motivations and desires, intense passion for their goal, etc., but if this is all cookie-cutter, it’ll fall flat. The depth has…[Read more]

@daeus-lamb – Cool! 3 days then. Maybe less, but I’ll say that to be safe. Thanks!

@daeus-lamb – I do prefer Kindle. I can make notes, and send you a list of the text/paragraphs I’m commenting on and what the comment is. You’d have to piece that together with your original, though. Is that doable? Otherwise I can go Google.

Great! Thanks for sharing π I put comments on the document itself. I’m guessing the others are racking up word counts for the new guild war, but I’ll tag a few for later on π
@kate @msqueen8 @r-m-archer @elizabeth @Uh, anybody else we should tag, ladies? π

“So true, Rachel, we can’t love without knowing. I guess I’ve just learned that pretending is harder than opening up and asking for help. As with everything, I had to learn that the hard way, too. I don’t want to pry, but if you ever want to share more, maybe some specifics of your journey, I’d be happy to hear it. Totally up to you, and no…[Read more]

What format will you be sending? The real question is, can I read it on my Kindle, or will I need to read on my comp? Kindle, I could have it done in a few days. Computer, I’d probably need more like a week.

Our leader–Daeus, I think they said–seems deep in thought, fingering a stunning gem that hangs from the chain around his neck. While we wait for him, I glance at one of the other girls and search for her name. Ah, Gabby. Something sparked in her eyes that wasn’t there before, making me curious to know her story. And Kate, with her sweet smile…[Read more]

Clarisse? Last time someone pronounced my name that way . . . memories flooded back.
The trees loomed overhead, reaching their boughs toward the sky. As if they were and army of humans, and I the invading grasshopper. The woods at night, but for the crunch of our boots, carried a thick, living silence. It didn’t bother me, though. The forest had…[Read more]

@kate – If it makes you feel any better, I started my first novel in 2011, finished the rough draft in 2013, and . . . I’m still editing it. This is my only finished novel. In my defense, I’m still learning to write and want to do it right, so I keep rewriting. But still. A dozen manuscripts at 19? I don’t call that slow. But maybe that’s because…[Read more]

I’ve fallen in love. With these people, with this place, and they don’t even know I’m here.
The invitation cannot be denied. I can see my empty chair from here, it’s top edge mimicking the parapet of a castle tower–my tower–and somehow I know what lies below, etched into the rosewood with the skill of a Master Carpenter. Mountains and forests…[Read more]

I’m going through it now, suggesting a few clean-up things. It will be super easy to either hit the check mark to accept the change and it’s done, or X to delete and go back to the original. Hope this helps! π

And . . . I’m a dork. I just realized that when Noah posted the new title it was actually a new Google docs doc. *sigh* I didn’t see the link, and all my comments are on the old, Fish: Child document, @noahlitle
And thus I also didn’t see the new version with the fish’s name in there, etc. Never mind about those comments. My bad.
I’ll endeavor…[Read more]
