Study the Psalms,Β I think at times depression was something that David struggled with to. When you don’t have words to pray, then pray the Psalms. Draw close to God and He will draw near to you. James 4:8Β No matter what happens and how lost and alone you feel, pray, and you are never alone. God created you and made you for a p…[Read more]

I tend to do that when I first start writing a story. I start writing without any thought as to theme, I just see some event happening in my head and I want to put it on paper. π Recently I’ve been trying to get better at writing and planning theme. Family is a awesome theme though. Families are so important. So what would you say…[Read more]

Awesome idea! π I am now following you on world anvil. This is the link my world, but it’s quite barren since I joined pretty yesterday and haven’t found the time to really detail it yet.

Do you ever struggle with word count? It seems like I’m always caught between too few words if I want to write a long story, or too many words if I intend to make it a short story. π Almost every story sounds boring when summarized, yours actually sounds like a promising premise. Do you know what your theme will be yet?

@eden-andersonΒ π Sounds like something I would do with my younger siblings as well. Did your family read a lot of lamplighters growing up?

Wow! Those all definitely sound convicting, before they were just titles, now you’ve convinced me to go read them for myself. π And books I can share with my younger sisters! Awesome! Thanks for the recommendations! π

I’ve been writing for about that amount of years as well. Editing is hard, but your method sounds like the best way I have heard. π
So what sort of project are you currently working on? π

@corissa
I haven’t read those three books but they sound like what I’m looking for. π What are they about? What about them did you find convicting?Oh that side of the Hidden Hand, I had forgotten about that. I know what you mean, I agree it’s not something to be read out loud to younger siblings. Which saddens me a bit because I’d like to find…[Read more]

I had never ofΒ Like Stories of Old before you mentioned it, so I looked him up on youtube. Wow, I’ll be keeping an eye on his work. Listened to two of them already. HisΒ analyzing has given me something to think about.
This is the third video you have recommended to us, I think. How do you find these interesting videos?

Congratulations onΒ finishing your first draft Chalice! π It’s always really exciting to finish something isn’t it?
So I don’t really recommend my way, but my 2nd draft blends into my 3rd and 4th and eventually my final draft. After my 2nd draft is done, I ask one or both of my unpaid beta readers to read it and tell me everything…[Read more]

The Lamplighter was definitely the story that had the strongest impression on me, and something that I have read again and again. It wasn’t just a entertaining story like the Hidden Hand, the Lamplighter talked about what a christian looks like and how they handle painful situations. It challenges me. Honestly, I do thinks it’s better…[Read more]

Wow, I actually haven’t read any of those. I don’t have a library right now, otherwise I would look those up. π The ones I own are the Lamplighter by Maria S. Cummins which is still my favorite so far, The Hidden Hand, Ismael or in the Depths, and the sequel Self Raised. How did you first hear about the Lamplighter series? I actually…[Read more]

I admit I haven’t read your first two parts of your course either. But if that isn’t a problem for you, I’m still happy to beta your part three and I should definitely be able to give you feedback within two months.

Thanks for posting this thread Eden! π I think it’s always a good idea to reevaluate one’s goals before the new year starts. And I want you to know that you’ve encouraged us to.
