  • @raemarie Oh, man! Moving is such a pain in the beginning. When my dad was in the air force, we would have to move all the time. Believe me, I understand the struggle.

Have you found a church yet? If not, I recommend FBC Branson. The people are super nice, and I absolutely love the pastor. Since this is a prayer chain, I’ll be praying that you…[Read more]

  • Congratulations, Avensbeck!! I loved all these submissions. Everyone did so well 🙂

  • @raemarie Yes. I’m actually touring in Canada right now with my family, so all that I’ve seen are the facebook posts. Still, super heartbreaking.

  • Hey! I have a prayer request. You may have heard of it, but the town that I live in had a Ride the Ducks boat capsize. 17 people died. 9 members of a family of 11 died. The ages ranged from 1-73.

My town LOVES our tourists, truly. Families came here to have a peaceful vacation and ended up experiencing a tragedy. That’s just heartbreaking. So,…[Read more]

  • Ohhhh my goodness! I could really find the voice this time! The ‘he waited 5 quarter notes and a rest” bit was brilliant. The story just seemed a lot smoother and clearer overall. I’m so proud of y’all.

Also, sorry I haven’t been much help recently! I’ve been out so much I’ve hardly had time for writing. Summers are always so crazy that I…[Read more]

  • @noahlitle I agree!

@kate I like where you’re going with it, though. Maybe you could say, “funny that someone like her could be so snobby.” Not exactly that, but somewhere along the lines of it. Just to keep it in the five-year-old comprehension range 😉 Also, you have done a lovely job with this story! Thank you for putting so much time into it.

I completely agree! I love adding “that one thing” to my characters, it just makes them pop. I’m very glad you chose to write about this because I don’t think I’ve done it enough in my writing.

One of my favorite things is when you’re reading a story, and the author can make you think of a character without saying their names. They just bring up…[Read more]

  • Thank you everyone for the kind welcome 🙂 While I’m up for writing a first draft sometime in the future, I don’t think I have a good enough feel of this story to write something I’ll be proud of. @kate you’ve had so many huge ideas for this story and I think you’d do a lovely job!

Also, are there any links or other ways to access the stories t…[Read more]

  • @Kate I’m all for the second idea! It’s very unique and original. I’ve always loved an odd main character 🙂

@noahlittle You made some very good points. Although we don’t want to make him completely oblivious to the world, he’s still five-years-old. Having him decline the fancy school because he prefers his chimney life is a really good…[Read more]

  • @daeus-lamb Thank you! Yes, I started a couple years ago and fell in love with it.

@raemarie It’s hard to pick a favorite! I love playing classical music and bluegrass on it. I mostly play Chris Thile songs, though (or at least attempt to play them). What about you?

  • Hey! I’m new to the guild and I’m just now checking everything out. I was reading through all of your amazing ideas and really loved what you guys came up with! Since a 2,500-word story is fairly short, I think it would be beneficial to find ways to pack a lot into each idea. For instance, we could show the horrors of being a chimney sweep and the…[Read more]

  • Hey 🙂 Thanks for accepting me into New Wessex. I’ve never done anything like this before, but I’m excited!
