J.A.Penrose started the topic Lesson 21 : Subplot Suspense – That Side Character in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 7 years, 8 months ago
Have you ever read that book where you kept reading and there was this one subplot character that you just could NOT work out? The rando who turned up to offer wisdom, then vanishes? Maybe they tag around as a mentor figure, but are constantly off doing there own thing behind the scenes? Two very different examples of this that I can think of, are…[Read more]

@cassie-hartfinh GOODNESS.
Okay. So, guys. Gillian is a real person, and an amaaaaaaazing author. And, I’m thinking she may be joining SE, but there was an issue in the account making. So Josiah stepped in. It was probably meant to be a private account check and not show up, but something slipped through the lines and it did. *thumbs up*

@ashira Yes, we are cousins.
@jane-maree THROWING IT OUT THERE.
I did not have anything to do with pizza turning up in Parimi Alca. Honestly. That was bizarre. (Maybe I casually said I was eating pizza? I honestly don’t know.)
What Parimi Alca has that Meraki doesn’t is an EPIC world, an elven guildmaster, and a very small, personal family f…[Read more]

J.A.Penrose started the topic Lesson 20 : Pacing to the Paragraph in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 7 years, 8 months ago
Today, we’ll be looking at pacing in your paragraphing. This kinda leads on with our last lesson as it is to do with structure, but it is still quite different.
When you write, you’re trying to write in the way that the reader feels. This textual structure will result in the readers being manipulated into feeling a certain way. Short…[Read more]

@julia Yup! That’s a good analogy!
@steward-of-the-pen All great points, and definitely true!
