I’m surprised how many people we have! Very nice work, everyone 🙂
I have posted more pieces and said a little bit more about myself in the “Artists of SE” forum, but I will say some.
I think I have been drawing for 3 years and I always did a relaxed, simple cartoon style. Only recently I have a little more vision for my art and would rather…[Read more] -

@rosiequill I like the way you shaded their skin 🙂

@christieaton I can tell your digital art has improved, as well! I like that your characters all look different- different skin tones, hair colors, eye color, etc. It is something I seldom see but it is truly one of my favourites. It just makes them all look so much more beautiful when they look different, like real people do.

@dekreel I’m glad you are improving! See, it isn’t hopeless for us artists who just want to do better

@lillian-parks03 I noticed you changed your profile picture to a picture of yourself! <3 I love being able to see how adorable and pretty you are 🙂 I hope I don’t sound creepy, though! Do you play guitar? (sorry if it was mentioned earlier, I suppose I forgot)

@lillian-parks03 I agree with Christi as well, try drawing and comparing your art to real life references and in time you’ll be able to see when there’s any wrong proportions.
The fifth drawing is great, but besides that one it seems there is a pattern of the eyes and lips being too large, mainly.
I can tell you are sensitive to values in your…[Read more] -

@jmastron Welcome to the forum!
I’ll let you in on a secret- I joined the forum for the art community, too.How long have you been drawing? Any watercolor tips?

@EVERYONE..
So I’ve been interacting with the art community for awhile, and so I know I need to come to the light and share my own artwork 🙂 I haven’t done this yet because at the moment the majority of my art is inconsistent (in skill and style) because A: Not quite sure what I want my artstyle to look like(that’s unimportant), and B: I’ve…[Read more] -

@lillian-parks03 Wow! it looks really good! how long ago did you make it? It is very inspiring. I often start mini comics, but only get a few panels in to lose motivation.

Ara replied to the topic Cartoon/Manga Improvements? in the forum Art Critique 8 years, 2 months ago
Oh, I forgot to mention. When drawing realistically it is very important to use a reference, whether it be IRL or a picture. (though I prefer real-life)
Dekreel, you are a trooper for taking so many peoples critics and opinions and I want to encourage you to not be discouraged on all the flaws you see or others see in your art -
Ara replied to the topic Cartoon/Manga Improvements? in the forum Art Critique 8 years, 2 months ago
@dekreel I wanted to say that, your art is really great. I know you work hard on it, and that’s perfect.
But I do have some other things worth mentioning, as you are asking for advice. I am not acquainted that well with manga or anime, so I won’t point out what looks like errors if that’s alright because it seems a lot of stuff is done because of…[Read more] -
Ara replied to the topic Help! Hair Crisis Alert! in the forum Art Critique 8 years, 2 months ago
FIRST: I like how you draw eyebraws!!
I think drawing hair well has a lot to do with shading and lighting. Honestly, drawing anything well just comes down to practice and experimentation so I don’t have that much advice. But IÂ really like the hair in the last picture! Especially the friziness. It probably looks nearly, if not just as realistic as…[Read more] -

My favorites are Pascal Campion, and Sara Tepes.
But for classic artists, I say Raphael.

@katthewriter Sorry about the late reply! A reference photo is pretty much just a picture you use as a reference, you look at it to help you draw the subject accurately.

(artists allowed here?) @hope-ann You know might be an artist when..
You find yourself fascinated by whether the light source IRL is warm, casting a cool shadow or cool light with a warm one.
You find yourself starring at people or objects, wondering how you would do the lineart for it.
Trying to do math on paper leaves you with am illustrated…[Read more] - Load More
