Hello! Hope you enjoy the chaos. We definitely could do with a few more people here. I have a feeling things are about to get interesting.

Geez, turn by back for a couple days to take an exam and my little sister has? completely restarted this wild ride?
M’kay. If that is how she’s gonna play it…

Grimme wove through the crowd of Pawns carefully, keeping her maid-outfit as prim and proper as possible.
White and black of course. Like a proper piece to a chess bo…[Read more]

Sorry if I’m too blunt, but there is no point restarting this castle if we’re reluctant to play with the characters and refuse to get emotionally invested in this.
Soooooooooooooo.
Challenge time: @this-is-not-an-alien , @skylarynn , @erynne , @rusted-knight
– We each find something we can get emotionally invested in – and we write…[Read more]

How does that affect an airship?
Depends – I suppose – on the genre and setting.
Fantasy – not the forum for it.
Sci-fi? Well, most air-ships are go on the soft-side of sci-fi so you just need to be plausible and consistent enough that it doesn’t jerk the reader out of the story.
For example, if you say that ships can fly…[Read more]

Grimme glared down at the currently-only-other-occupant in the room. Her eyes flashed electric blue. “Hm. Dr. Dominic. Would-be assassin. Miserable failure.”
“I’m done.” she plopped down on her butt, gingerly kicking the man with her boot. She glanced around the room, her eyes flashing yet again.
The … elf… Was that an elf? She though…[Read more]

It’s a black flip-phone.
That’s it.
I have a contact list.
I don’t answer unless a name appears.
(Don’t tell anyone but sometimes I don’t answer then.)
I’ve had it four years.
Yesterday I learned how to change the ringtone.
That’s right, yesterday.
In case you haven’t noticed, I’m low-tech.
It is… embarrassing that only yesterday I co…[Read more]

Yo. Flying ships.
How’s your new design coming along? And more importantly, how does it fly?

You inherited pyromania and chaotic stupid from both parents and their parents and – in all likelihood – their parents.
I have nothing to do with those traits because I have the braincell in this family.
To literally everyone else in this castle: If we are going to be rotating characters, maybe we should have a “In…[Read more]

chaotic feline vampire or pyromaniac elemental spirit.
Pleeeeeeeeeassssse.
Okay, so if you tag “chaotic” or “pyromaniac” I’m interested.
Those adjectives to not apply to me. But they do apply to my siblings! 😉

The rebel commander stormed across the parking-lot. Her long-coat flew like batwings, dark as the sky above them. Her hands swung loose at her side, seeming to point the driving wind and rain toward her enemies. Her pace measured the distance between her and the foe and found it wanting. Her bare, tattooed scalp reflected the searchlight, rai…[Read more]

When Grimme jumped to her feet, it was with the strands of a memory-dream. She rocked to the side, unsteady on two feet after a day on hundreds.
No rest – never – not really. Her mind alert in one body while the other rested.
She snarled, slamming her fist into the cave wall beside her.
“I will break this curse.” she whispered bitterly. “I…[Read more]

Red-Tooth-Strike-Claw was aware of the New. A temporal as well as magical disturbance.
He roared, drawing his pride together. The formally bronze lions drew close.
Tayl carried Clem into the house – and that pleased Red-Tooth-Strike-Claw. The man had earth in his bones.
Now, to go after the New. He was to enter with the others.
Always ten…[Read more]

Look into the sky, little heart, and see the twinkling distant reaches.
This is the last night.
We all smelled it. We all tasted it. We all heard it. We all felt it. We all saw it.
This is the last night.
So little heart, reach your heart out: The stars are yours if you just reach.
Go beyond the implants tangled in your body.
Go bey…[Read more]

Its the little things in life, you know? Thunderclaps, lightning strikes, a cute little brother in your lap, a quirky kid’s show on the TV. Little things.
It really puts life in perspective.
Especially when you realize you don’t have a little brother and you don’t know what day it is and this is not your house and that is not a thunderstorm.

No.
If I can’t write Warning and Message clearly enough for you to understand it, I am not a writer.
Now.
I am willing to explain why I selected this character.
I read a pin on a city that was alive. It wasn’t really a short story – more like a grandfather’s story. You know, the one where he explains how everything used to b…[Read more]

The Warning and Message shuddered.
The Point – as they had dubbed the hopeful cure – flashed brilliantly again.
Red.
They remembered red. When it hadn’t been connected to magic. When they could see all the colors of the rainbow.
Shades of green. That had been their world for hundreds of years.
And now. Red. Two flashes of red. Brilli…[Read more]
