BURN
“Details. Now.”
The world warped into gray-gold sensations.
Sticky like honey.
Chalky like ash.
Warm like both.
Round and frail.
I feel my blindfold – it’s replaced the bandages. Finally. And the infection is gone.
“Hey.” Grimme calls – her voice is close and how did I not know she was coming? “Does that feel better?”
“Yep.…[Read more]

I’ve noticed that there is little activity from other members in the castle. Part of which is my fault, due to not coordinating with other members. To the point, what do you people think should happen in this trial?
The trial is centered around Betrayal, whether it is someone a character betrayed or when they were betrayed.
I’m not r…[Read more]

“How could I have anticipated that would happen!?!” Nathair says from the ground.
I lunge at Burn, knocking us both to the ground. “Stop! Punching! People! Without! Warning!”
He’s still howling curses though. Well. At least he recognizes me. Otherwise, things would have gone from…[Read more]

So this happened fast.
I can’t write Burn in character for this. There is no way, no how he’s sitting in the air howling curses while Nathair and Sherlock hold polite conversations. I could have made it work if it weren’t for that one detail. Can I change it?

BURN
Who sprung a leak to the Endless Abyss?!
“We’re gonna die Search! We’re gonna die!”
Search just clucked my hand tighter. “Not yet we aren’t!”
“And I still haven’t figured out what a dragon is!”
“We’ll be fine!”
“I don’t want to die without knowing what a dragon is!”
“I don’t either!”
“In here!”
It’s so loud from the flood I d…[Read more]

“That’s incredibly treacherous how could you do such a thing.”
Snake-Punk adds almost amiably. But also, with a suspicious hint of confusion.
(despite the fact that he didn’t really know what a lizard was.)
“So.” Oh boy, here it comes. “How’d you get permanent blood stains in your hair?”
Not what I thought was coming.
But I grin anyway -whi…[Read more]

@driving-into-the-future
Why not throw both in?
I mean, @ragnarok has a disorienting number of characters and it hasn’t really bothered anyone. And you could put one in each group!
If you just don’t feel like doing two characters, I vote the water-princess because there are already a lot of pyromanic characters here. LOL.
On the other hand, if…[Read more]

Pardon me for sounding like Burn here, but punk literally not a single word of that made sense!
Okay. Deep breaths Search. Piece together what you can.

Jetstream – um.
Ship – drawing a blank… oh, probably transportation? Put a pin in that.
Job and money – that can’t be too different?

“There was but…” Ax-Punk says.
He doesn’t finish.
Instead he sighs, wanders back inside the Ma’n’Pa store.
Hm. To spy or not to spy.
“Hey punks.” I said, politely. “We’re leaving Ax-Punk behind.”
There. Now I’m not spying. I’m waiting

First I do a bit of basic ‘choreography’ if you will. Get the characters through the motions as quick as possible. Throw in any relevant dialogue. Give all the stage directions. This is very quick and I often go through numerous versions to find one that actually works.
Second, I flesh it out – I see it like a movie in my head and that does NOT…[Read more]

“So…who’s your girlfriend?” Snake-Punk says.
Ew. Grossgrossgrossgrossgrossgrossgross.

“Revenge? Revenge on…”
Ax-Punk is drowned out by a hideous noise. As I resist the urge to cover my ears, Barkeep sets out a string of glasses. If there was a little less noise, I could have counted them.
