Along the lanes and the country road
Through these rugged hills the landscape comes alive
Such vivid hues of scarlet and wine

Blown on the wind of a stormy bode
All the leaves drift down on pavement underneath
With colors blush as these cheeks of mine.

Above the road a sapphire sky
That radiates bright with sunshine looks upon
Itself in lakes so crystal and still

Inside my raptured heart soars to fly
On an inspiration that these hues can spawn
And find my spirit filling with thrill

These autumns roads declare a glory
With some leaves as red as blood that can atone
Some pale as the dying Savior’s brow.

These autumn roads will be home for me
A refuge from cheerless wanderings alone
Can’t you come wandering with me now?
