Go! the torch must be carried on
All the world must see flames in the eyes
Kindled by the love of Christ
Set your heart upon the prize
Run until you see the eternal dawn
Go! the torch must be carried on

Men of God, with their souls on fire
Bore His light in their lives no matter the cost
Bore prison and stripes, even their lives they lost
Words they spoke were Holy Spirit inspired
Will we be like them with souls on fire?

Fires they lit are burning still
But the flames are fewer and dimmer these days
Now is the need is urgent to be ablaze
We need to obey, and run in His will
Will our fires be burning still.

Children called, with their souls still in doubt
Torn between the True Word and Devilish fear
Torn between the needs known and the desires here
Wordly and distracted but called out
Will we be like torches, souls on fire?

Fires so bright and burning high
In the flames consume all our hindering fear
On the smoke float the ashes of pleasures here
We need to obey. The Return draws nigh
We need flames our souls to fill.

Torches aflame in the shadow
Out in dangers running not fearing the foe
‘Til the end enters this age, burning souls know
We’ll never be quenched, for the One we follow
Never dies. He set us afire.
