Mortristan was startled by his fatherโs death.
He is left with only two things: the governorship of Elysigard and a challenge from his father… find something worth living for. But it isn’t as easy as it sounds. Elysigard rests securely in the iron grip of the God of Manna— an unseen god who demands great sacrifice in return for food and p…[Read more]

Snapper started the topic Anyone Have Some Duct Tape? in the forum Plotting 7 years, 7 months ago
So, I’m plotting my latest and greatest novel at the moment, but I’ve come across a plot hole, and unfortunately, it keep getting bigger the more duct tape I put on it.

For the sake of secrecy, since I haven’t announced this idea to anyone yet, suffice it to say the government is mostly evil, the radicals are also evil and the main character…[Read more]

No worries, that was me for awhile. I still go back there for all of my old favorite authors like Garth Nix and Shannon Hale, but I have ran out of Garth Nix books to read: send help. ๐ Basically anything by those two authors is really good – I particularly like Across the Wall by Garth Nix and the Books of Bayern series for Shannon Hale. Oh, cool! I’d love to have mine in paperback. And I have looked into some editors and graphic designers to get a feel for it when the time comes. But I still haven’t decided on anything. I am a very indecisive person.
I have come in contact with some pretty lame books that are traditionally published. Sometimes I’m not…[Read more]

Hey, so I subscribed to all the subcategories in New Wessex but for some reason I am not getting e-mail notifications when new topics are created. 🤷♀️
It’s not a huge deal, I can just check the forum regularly so I don’t miss stuff…but I thought I would bring it to your attention anyway.

I’m not exactly there yet. I’m still editing my manuscript and everything, but I need advice for the future. I’d really like to publish my story, but I have no idea what I’m doing and which route is the best way to go. I’ve researched pro’s and con’s for both, but I still can’t decide if I want Indie or Traditional. I know quite a few people…[Read more]

@daeus-lamb From what I remember of the Silmarillion, the elves represented the idea of immortality? And death is seen as a gift to humans. I don’t think that’s quite what you were talking about, but that’s what struck me as interesting from the book.
For those of us who invent our own worlds, we have a great opportunity to point to certain truths…
