To Mama
Starched white sheets,
Whitewashed walls,
Hospital beds and
Sterilized halls.
Your unwashed hair,
Unwashed gown,
Did nothing to mask

No, actually, but I can see how you’d think that 🙂 I wrote this one day as I was thinking about the day I got to go see her after her surgery a couple months ago, and how much I hate hospitals and the whole mess of things that I was dealing with (had mild depression in the couple weeks before her surgery, I think because I was so stressed about it, but am much better now), and how when I walked into her room, with her hooked up to tubes and other paraphernalia, nothing stood out to me as much as her smile when she saw me and my brother.

@naiya-dyani Yep… And I know some people have an actual phobia of hospitals, and that’s not my thing. I think what my main problem with them is I can’t stand to know that people are in pain. And so that makes me feel almost kinda claustrophobic. I dunno. It’s weird. But that, whatever that is, coupled with the smell of disinfectant and the overall feeling of depressed-ness, makes me feel stuffy and bleh. *shakes head*
And needles don’t sit well with me either. Still not a phobia, but closer than my dislike of hospitals. A nurse came in while I was visiting with Mama to do an IV, and I didn’t watch her. I don’t think I’d’ve thrown up… but I rathered not take my chances lol. It’s still because of the “person is in pain/discomfort” thing.

Yeeeeee. . . I hate needles. *shivers* Can’t watch it, can’t experience it without intense wincing and anxiety, not rarely coupled with some shaking. Lemme tell ya, the dermatologist is not a fun place for me. Because I get keloids really easily, and the dermatologist has a fun little sharp thing known as a SHOT for those.
Can’t do the “someone else is in pain” thing. I mean, not as bad when it’s internal and I’m not actually seeing anything. . . but like, watching medical shows where they’re doing incisions and stuff. . . yek, I basically feel it myself. DX

I find it far more fun to have my characters go through medical stuff than to go through it myself. . .

Gwen: *rolls eyes* I didn’t die, though.
Stilton: I can see that. And it’s a good thing for Livi you didn’t.
Me: *laughs nervously*
Gwen: Calm down. I forgive her for the almost dying part.
