    Yet You Believe?

“What is wrong with my country?” The large man straightened his back, thick arms crossing over his chest as he stared at those before him. “The criminals are held as martyrs, the learned as God, the rulers as iron bars. Men, like me, flee when things are hard. And those who stand? All will fall.”

His eyes held sadness, glaring tears. “This is the New Age. The Great Reset that was warned of. Welcome to it. Be ready, for it has already overtaken you.

Awake, before it is too late. Before your homes are consumed, your pastures taken. Do not let them touch your daughters; do not let your sons hear their speech. Do not let their poison enter their blood.

But it is too late. The mighty have fallen, for they indeed were not mighty at all. While they were alive and healthy, they let themselves grow fat. Now they reap the reward.

What do you want from me, O man? Nothing I give. For I own nothing, but the government owns everything.

Do you not see? This is the end. Yet you believe tyrants will kneel?” His voice tightens with passion, “It is nothing but a lie.

    Now do what you will.”

Oh…dear. On this week’s apocalypse 2021. Lol, sorry. It’s a interesting spin of modern day and that scripture about the End Times, I can almost hear Biblical passages through your flash fiction, it’s really good! And the sense of it all coming ‘like a thief in the night’ because of poisonous philosophy and complacency.

I really like it! It’s very well written.

The only part that didn’t make sense was in the beginning it says “the learned as God” would you mind explaining that? 🙂

It’s probably just me and makes perfect sense to everyone XD

Thank you Erynne! I love how you spell your name, by the way. (:

The only part that didn’t make sense was in the beginning it says “the learned as God” would you mind explaining that?

Oy… Let me try to find a way to say it, that’s not a riddle. Hmm…

Who are the learned of this world? Who are the learned of your country? Who do you see as smart? Who claims to have all the answers? Whose word do we fear more than the word of God? Whose words do we believe to be the truth, with never questioning?

That is who I meant by ‘the learned’. I meant our belief in the learned, and our following them, is the trust and faith we should have in ‘God’.

Does that make a bit more sense, or is it more confusing? I’m sorry.
