I am coauthoring a book with somebody, and am wondering if anybody has any tips. It was his idea so I feel like I should let him write more of the story, but he is really busy right now. Should I just try to write it or should I wait for him to be ready to write again?

@gabrielwoods What’s his idea for how the storywriting process should go? I mean, I know some people won’t tell you directly *cough cough me* but I would probably want to know if he wanted a larger part in writing his idea or if he’s cool with you taking it on. 🙂

@naiya-dyani thanks, I think he wouldn’t mind me writing the ruff draft, but I will check

Pretty much what Naiya said. You really really really need perfect communication in a co-authoring project =P Before either of you write one more word, you should each know exactly what you expect of the other and what your individual responsibilities are.

@taylorclogston thank you. I will try to keep him updated and tell him to keep me updated about ideas and stuff.

Exactly what @taylorclogston said. 👍 There definitely needs to be perfect communication for a co-authored book. Also, Gabriel, good idea about keeping him updated with ideas (LOL). You don’t want to be too “pushy,” so I think keeping him updated with ideas would keep the book on his mind. 🙂

@bigideaskc thank you! I think I need to find a time to just sit down and talk to him about it, maybe even talk for like, an hour each week at a specific time. And obviously keep in touch about it in between.

You’re welcome! 🙂 And yeah, that’s a great idea. The more communication you establish, the better. 👍

I used to co-author, but my co-author quit…..So now I’m writing it on my own.
