Good evening, Ereki! Today’s annual theme discussion is a bit shorter than normal: there’s an excellent article on conflict by K.M. Weiland that I want us to read. It really highlights how to write killer conflict and what that looks like.
It should only take you a minute or two to read. When you’re done, check to see that you’re applying these concepts to your current WIP, and then post anything you learned from the article that surprised you.
For myself, I realized I’ve always made it too obvious too early that the protagonist’s Need #2 is the thing he should sacrifice everything for; I often fail to make sure that his Need #1 (Want) is just as appealing.
