Leana gaped as the fight broke out. She’d been in frisky fights before, with her family. Be it apples, hay, dung, water, or pebbles. But she wasn’t in the mood for it, and honestly would much rather go outside and start toward home. If home still existed.
But even if she did feel like a food fight, such a thing, in such a beautiful setting, with…[Read more]

As someone who writes almost exclusively morally gray characters, I feel obligated to comment. Not to defend the mainstream use of morally gray characters, who are mostly just buttholes who happen to be shooting at socially designated bad guys, but in defense of complex, flawed characters.
The truth is that most people, even Christians, are or…[Read more]

“Pardon me Ma’am, but are you hungry?”
Leana’s eyes widened, and she looked up to see one of the men. The one who’d given her the bag, and the chocolate. She wanted to scoot back, but Leana already leaned against a wall. “I-” I am.
I don’t trust you. I don’t know what’s happening? I want to wake up. How can this be real? But who do you say all t…[Read more]

Leana honestly had no idea where to run, after getting down the stairs. Go back to Crorie? No. No. She ran the other way, darting around a man with strange clothes, and into a giant room.
Her jaw dropped and she looked up at the painted ceiling. Three or four houses tall. A giant thing hung from the middle of it, hundreds and hundreds of jewels…[Read more]

Alessio glanced up at the doorway, brain still fumbling for some sort of explanation he could give, but she wasn’t there.
“Uh, wai-?!” Is she going to be ok…? Alessio yanked his handcuffs, uselessly, and bit his lip. What was he supposed to do now? He glowered at Endlessly Angry.
“Do you have any shred of decency in you or are you nothing b…[Read more]

She took another step back at the absolute chaos in the room. At Alessio’s apology. At the arrow. At the two guys trying to wrestle the others to the ground.
Run? She bit her lips and whispered, “It’s morning.” One of the suns had just started to flicker through the drapes, at the end of the hall. Finally.
The man growled as the other tackle…[Read more]

“WHAT IN THE WORLD IS YOUR PROBLEM?!” Bellowed Endlessly Angry, swinging open the door. Alessio was going to yell at him but he noticed the slight change in his position – he recognized that motion and fired and arrow (with his teeth, as he only had one hand to spare!) right in front of his face to scare him before he could hit her. A little too l…[Read more]

Leana gaped and took a step back, before she thought better of it. Don’t let these geezers think you’re afraid of them. She pulled her shoulders back, and waved at the frumpy man, with a fake smile, “Hi?”

“Arsene Lupin is my name, young man.” Young man? Alessio raised an eyebrow like Arsene swapped brains with a stereotypical grey-headed grandfather. “Saga died in a ditch somewhere outside Mithril. Isn’t that right, dearest brighter of mine?”
Alessio glanced between them uneasily. That was very specific for a random quip – what happened to…[Read more]

Leana bounced on her heels, outside the door. She glanced both ways, down the hall, Am I waking them up? She knocked softly, again, and decided she wouldn’t knock a third time.

Alessio was in the middle of panicking over Arsene when there was a faint tap on the door. He might’ve tensed if he wasn’t as tense as humanly possible already. There was a sound of a slight jiggling of the lock, and Alessio bit his lip, glancing around.
From the sound – not aggressive. Perhaps dangerous, likely female (there’s just like, the kin…[Read more]

After Leana and Crorie finally laid down to go to sleep, Leana found herself staring at the ceiling. She wished it was sky, above, so she could see the stars. Leana could name almost all of the glowing embers. At least the closest ones. Papa said he didn’t know the fainter ones, as well. And more or less guessed their names, from the reaches of…[Read more]

Hi there! Thanks for joining in 🙂
It’s just my opinion, but I believe a morally gray character should have a reason for his/her actions. These actions should also be in character and not simply there for the sake of having a morally gray character. And in the end, said character should not be the same person they were in the b…

Leana’s eyes bugged when she saw the man, the knife. He disappeared as quickly as he’d appeared.
She really wanted to curl into a ball and cry. But no more of that… Leana wiped her eyes with her hands, pulled back her shoulders, glad she had her back against something solid, and looked up at the woman curiously… Not sure what to say or do. Whe…[Read more]

Alessio was done.
He quietly piled the bed sheets on the floor into a cozy nest and dropped on top of them like a nonverbal ‘kiss-my-sass’.
“I want sleep. Or death. Whichever comes first.” He mumbled, sardonically waiting for Sir Scary to stop standing where Alessio was forced to sit up for be dragged upright by the handcuf…[Read more]

“Thanks Snake-Punk but apparently I’m good on your coin.” Was that blind guy laughing at him? He was, wasn’t he? He seemed to scratch the scars under his blindfold when he was nervous. Oh well.
“Of course. I’m incredibly generous.” Nathair smirked as if he’d totally planned that. He took a sip of his drink and it burned all down his throat – th…[Read more]

(btw I love how Leana flopped on the bed like Alessio lol @kimlikesart X)
Alessio tensed the moment something hooked along Sir Scary’s ankles and yanked him down – tugging Alessio with it. He sprang with the pull and dropped in a crouch on the other side of Sir Scary.
“What’s going on boys?”
“He started it.” Alessio accused with exaggera…[Read more]
