Wow, thanks so much for sharing this! It surely does take guts to be open and honest. You’ve inspired me to do the same π Maybe soon. Thanks for overcoming that fear and sharing your request. I’ll certainly pray for you!
I resonated with what you shared. I mean, if you can do it all yourself, what need is there for community? Been there,…[Read more]

Hi, I’m back. I’m still recovering from a rough day yesterday, but I put a few comments on the doc for @noahlitle. Hope they’re helpful. There are quite a few, so just take what you like and ditch the rest π
I don’t think I made this clear in my comments, but I didn’t notice much difference in his thoughts about her attention to him one way or…[Read more]

It’s so funny you mention that, because just yesterday I found the coolest naming site ever! Okay, well, I think so. It’s not a name generator, as such, but you can find just the right one.

What I like about this is you can search for meanings as easily as actual names. You can also very easily narrow the…[Read more]

@noahlitle – Congrats! *Bows to superior prose* I’m looking forward to seeing your revised version π
@kate – Thanks! It was a blast to write it, and now I have another short story in my repertoire. *Turns on fans to blow the confetti everywhere, and dances in swirling paper.*

@kate – Thanks for volunteering! Yay! I feel your pain on choosing which one, but I don’t share it since I don’t have to vote *evil laugh* *rubs hands* *relieved to have written a draft* π Also, did you manage to get all the lichen out of your hair? Being swamped is no joke!

Okay, so while we’re reading stories and things, a few things to consider:
1. What’s the deadline? Anybody know the exact date?
2. Does anyone know how to contact the people Daeus asked us to submit our story to? Anyone willing to be responsible for submitting the final story before the due date?
3. If all rough drafts are in, we should…[Read more]

So, when I saw the suggestion Noah posted about a fishbowl, my imagination started spinning. I just had to try it, and found it to be tons of fun. π For me, the best way to learn is just to do itβer, try to do it π Whether my prose is a worthwhile start, only you all can be the judge. Whoever’s rough draft we use, the experience is the point, r…[Read more]

Okey dokey, I had a couple thoughts, one here, one on my next post.
First, the fishbowl idea was truly a stroke of brilliance, @noahlitle π
Thoughts on Fish: Child. I liked the voice, sounds like a goldfish to me. Funloving, wanting to be involved, etc. I love the line: “If fondant could make noise, it would sound like that.” And his memory…[Read more]

Interesting. So either the personality experts are mistaken in their estimations, or rare people have similar interests and thus tend to attract other rare people.

Ah! So many good thoughts! How did I fall into a group of such smart people? π
For the initial questions, I develop backstory a bit differently, I think. I’m a “plot-first” writer, so where plots explode into being as easily as hot popcorn, trying to discover a character is like mining for gold. It’s SUCH HARD WORK. Of course, I know I need lots…[Read more]

Hmm, I really like the urban fantasy idea! It’s like the best of both worlds.
However, I see the point @ethryndal made about the contemporary pushing us toward deeper prose.
I could go either way with the genre, but if I had to cast a vote, I’d have to go with urban fantasy. The goal is to have the most original and creative prose, so if writing…[Read more]

My mind is blown.
Thanks for posting links to tests, @daeus-lamb. I think I never actually took a test, just read descriptions and picked what seemed to fit. I was wrong!
Apparently I’m an INFJ, not INFP. I was skeptical until I read the description. Everything is spot on. lol. I think I’m a believer in those tests, now π And it was quite…[Read more]

Woot! Let’s do this.
Shall we start by choosing a genre? I love fantasy, personally, so I’m gonna be super biased. But the one thing about fantasy that might aid our cause is that it is, by definition, original and creative. Throwing our combined creativity’s worth of prose over a fantasy skeleton might have war-winning results.
Just a thought.…[Read more]
