ProfessorSJB replied to the topic {2018 – Week 15} Why Everyone Should Read Their Old Writing in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 8 years, 1 month ago
Did you say old writings?
They don’t existI have a stack of them that I am really tempted to use as kindling. Some, I actually threw out and really regret it know. Even if they seem horrible, sometimes it’s not. Depends on the day, I guess. So know I try my hardest to keep close to everything I write even if they are horrible. -

First of all, great job on your story! (In case you didn’t know, I love short stories…)
- I would say yes, although I would probably word the first sentence differently.
- Oh, hey, I just answered your second question 🙂
- I liked the character of Tesline and her family. I liked how you snuck in descriptions of her, it really brought…

Okay, never mind the fact I’m
latealways on time.Characters…*gasps audibly* this is something that should not be missed! For the most part, my characters create themselves, meaning
sometimesmost of the time I have no control over them. I’ll probably have to share about Lisa, who invaded my dream constantly since four years ago and finally…[Read more] -

No problem! I was just wondering why it wasn’t showing up. I thought it was because I was half-asleep and I was imagining things, tho. (>v<)

ProfessorSJB replied to the topic {2018 – Week 12} Longer or Shorter? in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 8 years, 2 months ago
Aahh, this is the one I would have to watch out for. I tend to make my sentences long no matter the genre, then sometimes end up with really short ones, so I should probably go and re-read some of my past works. The only problem is, for one of my novels, I actually don’t know the genre it’s in. It’s probably sci-fi, but sometimes it…[Read more]

Hi! Just
resurrected from the deadfinished my first draft of my very first novel… In case you guys were wondering, I was off in a very intensive string boot camp. I’m alive, thank you.@ lightening-spider, your premise for Thor sounds super cool! I love all things mythological, so you have to definitely let me know when you finish it.

Whimsically, the yellow balloon bounced up into the clear, cerulean sky from my hands, waving and nodding back at me.
According to nature, the yellow balloon escaped into the endless sky from my hands, disappearing into a tiny dot in the height.
(In case you were wondering, I am still alive!)

Just in case you were wondering if I suddenly died, I did not. (Unfortunately) I have started working (two jobs), so you may not hear from me too often…But I will still try my best! Here is a snippet from one of my stories that sort of fit in with the assignment. This is something I really need work on, so thanks @jane-maree!

ProfessorSJB replied to the topic {2018 – Week 5} What's YOUR biggest struggle with Prose?? in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 8 years, 4 months ago
My problem is similar to all those already listed…and loooong sentences. Also, my brother always points out how my writing style is outdated+modern+weirdly worded at the same time. I like to think it’s just my style of writing, but I’m not entirely sure…

Thank you for taking the time to read it! Yes, I definitely need to work on passive voice…I’m glad you liked it.
Thank you for your comments! I sort of wrote it in one writing, so I could also take the time to review it.
I hope that I can post other short stories as they come by here. And thanks once again!

Wait, I am tardy again? Anyhow, this is the opening scene from (one of) my novels that I am currently working on. Although, I wrote this years ago and my style may have changed slightly. I still think it’s fun.
“Hey, wait up, genius!”
Lisa looked behind her and immediately wished she hadn’t. It was that jerk, Karl.
Before he transferred, she…[Read more]

@ jane-maree
Sure! I updated the share settings. Also, a few things about the story. The first one was intended to have a sort of simple feel to it. Please feel free to tell me if anything is confusing, therefore. The second story was done without much planning or anything, it’s a figment of my inspiration. I don’t really know either -v-
