Done! A pity yesterday wasn’t part of the war, or I’d’ve been closer to 3,000 words.

@happyholly_c That’s 119 words better than 0. 😉 We can’t edit a blank page, right?
@brandon-miller Congratulations! Have fun and learn lots! 😀
@brie-donning Welcome back! n.n~

@corkybookworm @brandon-miller
Okay, I’ve experimented a bit. Last week, I did use my notebook! A few times for rambling, unrelated-to-my-WIP stories or writing exercises, but twice for my WIP, which was awesome! I’ve been carrying it around this week, too, but without using it. This week, I’ve been waking up an hour early, but more to get my…[Read more]

@corkybookworm Brandon Sanderson, I believe, writes about 2,000 words a day. You’re operating at professional-author levels tonight – go you! 8D

@corkybookworm Now that you say that, I think Shea’s biggest strength lies in the fact that her series are more than the sums of their parts. With her King Arthurs series, I found each book kind of ‘meh’ – fun and adventurous, but nothing to write home about – until the last half or so (and especially the last couple chapters) of the last book.…[Read more]

@brandon-miller Well, if you’re going to twist my arm, I guess I’ll have to reread the series. *hears you protest* So sad Brandon is making me do this. xP

Noooooo, back it up a week! I wrote more last week than I’d written in a while, and this week I have family visiting! ToT
*dries my tears* That being said, I do hope to have something to contribute to this Word War! =D

I haven’t read the series in years, so this response won’t be a five-point-essay analysis of what makes it good (xD), but I think what drew me into them was Percy himself. The snark in his narration is one that Riordan reuses for most of the PoVs I’ve read from him, but none of them sell me on it the way Percy did (does? I have read the follow-up…[Read more]

I have definitely noticed how stuff I’ve read has impacted my writing over the years. The first time I remember this happening was in high school with Rick Riordan’s two series Percy Jackson and the Olympians and The Kane Chronicles. I fell in love with Percy’s voice almost immediately, and I enjoyed the bantering narration between Carter and…[Read more]

I’ll give the notebook thing a try, and I’ll… consider… waking up before the sun… xD I’ll let you guys know how it goes. 😛
@brandon-miller Holy cow, those are some long weeks!

@corkybookworm I haven’t tried the writing-in-a-notebook thing, no, mostly because I like to be able to see my overall WIP as I add to it so that it feels more streamlined. But maybe I should start carrying a notebook with me and just see what happens… x)

@scribbles I also missed the notification and am incredibly late to this thread! But I hope things are going well with the new (or not-so-new-anymore?) job and just general life! *hugs*

“Evaluate” is probably the tip I’m most familiar with in my own writing life. Video games, nonograms, YouTube, and other stuff has sporadically crept into my life, not only eating up my time, but unnecessarily devouring my mental energy. I went through a couple weeks earlier this year where I finished with work in the morning and decided to play a…[Read more]
