So, yeah. We finally meet Sylvie/Caitir’s only friend. I thought the way she talks would irritate Nia to no end, so…

Sylvie’s PoV
Sylvie trudged along behind the Wingfeathers. Larnik walked ahead with Janner and Kalmar, and her mother talked with Nia, too low for Sylvie to hear. Leeli and Sara were also murmuring and glancing at Arundelle and Artham. Sylvie sighed.
Why! Why did it have to be me! She yelled inwardly. Why do I have to be the one that’s shy! W…[Read more]

You greet someone by kissing, but not actually kissing–just touching cheeks and making a kissing sound…
Oh, the Dutch do that too! But it’s kind of a regional thing, mostly in the west and the south. It’s usually three kisses, right, left, right. Also, you don’t do it if you just meet someone, you have to know them pretty well before you do…

It’s okay! And great to hear that Hagrid is still there; maybe he went on patrol, and that’s why Rupert hasn’t met him yet…

Um, why did you tag Emma Walker?
Oooo, I really like your take on the legend.
Thanks!
So, I don’t know if you saw my post
I did, and it was really good!
maybe they defeat Macha by learning the Song of the Sea, or summoning a selkie somehow? (alliteration unintentional) if so, that book I mentioned in my post would tell t…

EMBERYN’S POV
I nudged Amberley’s wheelchair forward with my foot.
“What?” She whispered.
I leaned forward and murmured, “Tell them what you know about Macha. You’re quite possibly the best resource of information we have here on her.”
The people in the room had heard us and were looking at Am. She glared at me, then wheeled herself…[Read more]

AMBERLEY’S POV
I stared at Rupert Greeves. He seemed kind, but there was a shadow lurking in his eyes, a deep sadness over… something. The mark of a war-torn veteran. I should know; my older brother was in the Marines and when he came home on leave,* I saw that shadow much too often.
“Nice to meet you Rupert.” I said, shaking his hand. He…[Read more]

Update:
Dad says that if the mom is named Mama Meat (Thwapling said), and the twins are Meat and Remeat, then the dad should be Mo’meat (Dad came up with this, not me. I am not responsible for any comments that he makes. I still love him dearly though. 🙂 ).

Ahhh… That makes a lot more sense! And I think (I peeked ahead at the food and drink lesson) that for ‘you’re welcome’ it might be ‘my pleasure’ or ‘I ‘ell nîn’. I’m probably wrong though…

P.S. Kinnan, thanks for the link! You’re right, it is easier! (explanation for this: I clicked on the link, and when I realized that it was Sindarin lessons, I asked my mom if I could do it–because it’s Sindarin lessons and that would be really fun to learn, even though I’m already learning French and Latin–and she said to ask Dad. So, when Dad…[Read more]

AMBERLEY’S POV
Amberley sighed. Harry was still at Hermione’s bedside, and she herself was there too, though that wasn’t a choice. Without Emberyn or her wheelchair, Amberley was most definitely stuck. Then her aforementioned brother walked through the door–with her wheelchair!
“How…”
Emberyn grinned. “When Janner, Kalmar, and Leeli went to…[Read more]

JANNER’S POV
Janner looked around. He, Kalmar, and Leeli had volunteered to check the hallway where they had been attacked.
“There it is!” Kalmar whispered. The hallway was disheveled after the battle, and littered with scraps of clothing, dead owls, fallen weapons, and a wheelchair. Janner went over to the wheelchair and grasped the handles. It…[Read more]
