Nithel took a step nearer Alessio, and planted himself there. He wanted to be near his friend. But realizing what that might have looked like, he looked toward Isaac and nodded.

Nithel began readying his mind to treat Isaac like a leader. He didn’t feel anything from the man, he couldn’t read him. Like Gabrel, though their personalities were likely different, they had the same fence. Isaac had much to hide, and his eyes would tell, but Nithel didn’t need to know.

He straightened his back, sucking in a slow breath, and waited.
