Yes I have read all of the Holmes stories many times plus a good many other books by Doyle. All of which were very intriguing. As far as his powers of deducing facts, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle actually possessed all of the traits with which he endowed Sherlock Holmes. There are many interesting stories I’ve read of him deducing facts a…[Read more]

I didn’t read every message other than yours so someone may have already said this but I had an old and experienced writer once tell me: In a short story series make sure you stay fluid with interesting segmented stories. Through all the short stories in the series also have an overarching story that builds slowly throughout all o…[Read more]

I was given a beautiful copy by a friend and I am currently reading it. I love it so far!
I actually really like Jazz Hurricane. I’ll have to adopt the name. Thanks
It would sound interesting that’s for sure.

Yes, I applied for a guild and should be in one within a month I guess.
As far as which author inspires me the most, I draw inspiration from a pocketful of authors. I am a professional thief and forger with books I’ve read I guess. Books spark ideas that I run with and have to put down on paper. I don’t know that I can answer you abo…[Read more]

Yes, @NoahLitle told me about StoryEmbers. I’ve been looking for a Christian writing forum for a while.
Each era of Historical Fiction has its own unique charm, but I am partial to the timeframe around 1000AD. It presented so many possibilities while giving a foundation for so many amazing twists and turns perfect for writing about.

I’ve read The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood, and some of his King Arthur stuff. I’ve heard a lot about Otto of the Silver Hand but I have not read it yet.

I actually just recently bought a set of first edition Victor Hugo books. I’m really excited and just started The Hunchback of Notre Dame. As far as Charles Dickens, I’ve read most of them and I have the rest but I’m not a huge fan. They’re ok, just not amazing.

Thanks!
My historical fiction side is mostly still just concepts being created in my head but they are beginning to find their ways into paper(or digital notepad.) and I am excited about them.

That is like asking my favorite breath I’ve taken. There are too many to count, but a few favorites are: The Maze Runner Trilogy(Of Course), Michael Strogoff-Jules Verne, Lord of the Rings(I am trying to name more familiar ones.) Sherlock Holmes, newer favorites are a little more tricky, they are equally loved and hated by people. Bridge to T…[Read more]

Haha, no. Not a bad thing at all. Dracula seems to have been always ostracized within christianity.(At least where I am from, and for good reason concerning the newer fiction built off it.) But actually, Bram Stoker wrote Dracula with an eye towards making it kosher as far as Christians were concerned. He uses the Bible throughout as…[Read more]

I was told about StoryEmbers by a friend and had to check it out. Already loving it!
Im brand new here complete with new car smell. Anyway, I am a hobby writer, but only because I don’t have time to be a full-time writer.
I write the kind of fiction I would like to read and I want to make Christian fiction what it once was. There should be e…[Read more]

I was placed in the advanced arena by the quiz,(I still don’t know if it is right or not.) and I am totally blown away by the subjects you guys are discussing. I guess I haven’t really thought about focusing on one aspect of my fictional writing at a time before. I am fairly spontaneous and I tweak the story over and over until it is to my sta…[Read more]

Personally, I think the fantasy genre has been made into another cliche label like the romance genre. To hold the attention of a reader anymore it seems that you must either 1. Write something so strangely new and exciting that the reader cannot help but be drawn into. Or 2. Write something cliche with a minimally different storyline to appeal…[Read more]
