@piperbee Totally. I’m not the kind of person who asks for work to be edited until I know it’s as good as I can make it, so I’ll probably end up replotting the book and then rewriting it 😛
That’ll be fun.

Germaine Han replied to the topic Similar authors? Help! in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years ago
This is a tough question. I think I would go with including the premises of the three stories since they’re all different genres. If I thought a book was going to be contemporary / adventure all the way through, I’d be very surprised when the stories switched to fantasy, then sci-fi. I think it’d be a really good heads-up.

Wow, yeah. This sounds like good advice. I just finished the second draft of my book and there’s still developmental stuff that needs fixing. It feels like I’m back to square one, but I guess in reality all my characters have already been developed. Still, it’s a total pain and I’m really not looking forward to ripping it apart. XD

I like those ideas, too! I just think that we should probably stay away from the cliche choose-your-own adventure style.

Absolutely agree. Also, reading can really give you inspiration when you most need it and get you back to writing again.

Germaine Han replied to the topic What's the hardest thing about being a writer? in the forum Weekly Theme Discussion 7 years, 1 month ago
I’ve been ready to fight back if people try to pull me down about my writing, but honestly no one has really done that and sometimes I get worked up over nothing. Maybe what I need to do is figure out a backup plan for if it comes up, and figure out how to put things in a nice way.

I’m having difficulty editing my book because I have a bunch of exams coming up in the next couple of months, then after that I’ll be thrown into a huge pile of schoolwork. So far I’ve only been able to edit sporadically, usually staying up late for a couple of minutes. School also sucks out a lot of energy from me, so a lot of the time I can’t…[Read more]

I definitely see a lot of improvement, @literatureforthelight. Just one thing though – as someone who has a number of Korean friends, the English translation of their names could be spelled a bit differently. For example, I would more often see Eun-ha as Eun Ha or Eunha. It’s definitely up to the person, but I rarely see Korean names with an en…[Read more]

Hey guys, feel free to write this without me. I’m going on camp and won’t be back until Friday, so I might just be there for the editing stage. Sorry I can’t make it XP

@literatureforthelight I really love that two sweethearts one! I could really see that happening.
@corissa @eden-anderson I agree with the bittersweet part. I mean, I love happy endings, but very rarely is The Perfect Ending™ executed well. We want to leave the reader satisfied, not underwhelmed by the cliche ‘everyone is happy!’ ending. 😉

Whoa! This one sounds interesting. Initial ideas off the top of my head:
-Ending a toxic relationship
-The hero doesn’t get the girl and is happy staying single / his best friend gets the girl
-Villain finds fulfillment in being a hero rather than a villain
-The mother and the child never reunite but both gain equally loving families
I’d…[Read more]
