I have a story idea, (finally!) and I’ve been trying to outline before I start writing the actual story. However, getting everything figured out is turning out to be pretty hard. (My main resources have been K.M. Weiland’s blog and Story Embers resources) When I write poetry, I draft out my idea with very little planning but with a strong idea of what effect I want to create in the end. Even in daily life, I have a to-do list but not a timed schedule. That’s how I roll. I don’t know how this translates to fiction though. I want to approach it the most efficient and least stressful way, if possible.
How important is it to outline and figure out details before you start? Is it subjective? What are the most important elements to plan before writing scenes?
