Logan blinked. He wasn’t expecting the question. What am I supposed to say to her? He opened his mouth to speak, but no words came. He was grateful that she noticed and cared enough to ask. But could he really let her see the things that hurt him? There were so many of them and they were so. . . painful.

“Rhioe.” he stopped, words again failing him. “I’m fine. It’s just-  Everyone’s got things from their past that they think about and-” he broke off, his lips trembling. And you think about Shyla, Logan. His mind reminded him. Rhioe reminds you of Shyla. Tears started to his eyes and he was glad Rhioe could not see his face. “I-” he let out his breath in a painful gasp. “I want to tell you Rhioe but. . . it hurts so much. .  you know?” his voice grew husky.
