Knowledgeful Butterfly

Rei nodded and nipped at Delton’s heels as they walked out of the room, but when they entered the new room it wasn’t the last one they were in.

Rei turned around, almost chasing her tail, and yipped again.

They had to get out of this cathedral. It was the place they were most vulnerable.

Vicq nodded and held her stylus up, at the level of her eyes and mumbled a word

“Nalom.”

“Cathedrals, churches, any holy place–they don’t like me,” she said with a shaky voice, “I’m a mix of two demons, native American and Japanese. I’m not supposed to be in sacred places, they reject me. I’m an abomination.”

Rei woke up with her face pressed up to a worn t-shirt. Frozen, she looked up to see it was Delton carrying her.

Vicq knew that she wasn’t back on her earth. If she was, there would be an angry mother shaking and pounding her and saying she was a disgrace for leaving and staying gone.

she was glad she wasn’t on her earth.

“Well,” Vicq sighed, “I can maybe scan for strong entities?”

she twirled her stylus nervously.

Taking a soothing breath in, Rei attempted to use her magic again to see where they were. She had to hold on to Delton to keep her knees from buckling, but eventually was able to flick her fingers and summon a map of the surrounding area in the air.

“Well then,” she said, breathing deeply, “there you go.”

and promptly fainted
