This one I wrote this past summer. At the moment I was first ‘hit’ with the inspiration, I was sitting on a log under a small bush in our woods, watching as small cloudbursts came and went. There would be moments when the wind would just rush through the trees, shaking leaves from every one. That wind was the main inspiration for this song.

    Enjoy!

    Whispers
The soul of this forest is sleeping
Frozen with winter and dead at the heart
I wish that the skies would be deep’ning
Rumble with thunder and pour down the rain

A whispers of wind softly rushes
Into this stillness and quivers each limb
A roar of the wind! The rain gushes
Down from above and washes shame away

Awakened by the thunder, I’m filled with awe and wonder
That One, the Lord, of the storm, would transform
This barrenness about. I cry out

Please let Your wind quicken me into life anew
And let it fill me with the strength to stand
Help these barren branches to bear fruit for You
A harvest honoring to You, my King
O Lord, send the wind to quicken me

The springing of life id brightening
Boughs with the buds, so sweet and full of hope
    Aromas of joy refreshing
Your wind still murmurs promises of love

When doubt comes to dry and to wither
Wings of the storm will bring Your wind again
The rain of the Living Word rivers
Into my heart and the drought is no more

Revived by the water, I’ll grow, not falter
The Lord – the One Who’s the Light- the Bright Son
Shines with warmth strong. Still this is my song.

Please let Your wind quicken me into life renewed
And let it fill me with the strength to stand
Help these budded boughs to bear fruit fit for You
A harvest honoring to You, my King

Please let Your rain revive me when the rivers dry
And send the thunder to awaken me
Help these fruited boughs to bear and be thereby
A harvest honoring to You, my King
O Lord, send the wind to quicken me

The autumn of life comes steadily
Harvest will come and my days will be o’er
The Day when You call, I’ll readily
Let the last leaf of my legacy fall.

Beckoned by the Father, I’ll live forever
With Him – the One Who’s the Light – the Bright Son
Until that day come, let this be my song

Please let Your wind quicken me into life renewed
And let it fill me with the strength to stand
Help these budded boughs to bear fruit fit for You
A harvest honoring to You, my King

Please let Your rain revive me when the rivers dry
And send the thunder to awaken me
Help these fruited boughs to bear and be thereby
A harvest honoring to You, my King
O Lord, send the wind to quicken me

Let my autumn legacy speak only of You
A memory honoring to You my King
O Lord, send the wind to quicken me
